Very cool and well deserved. As Lic says, it's about more than basketball. Best of luck to Harry and his Astros this year. I was on the Astros for 2 years as a kid too. Unfortunately, I had to wear those old school highlighter-like jerseys. Thankfully, Harry will be spared that! Isn't spring great?

Beautiful day at the Little League field yesterday. Harry played third, first and centerfield, proudly wearing number 9 for the Astros.
He went 2 for 3 in his first encounter with the pitching machine since getting hit and sent to the ER last summer. As is so typical for my son, fear was not an option.
Days like yesterday make three years ago seem like forever. Three years ago makes days like yesterday priceless.

Elvado,
I couldn't love your perfectly normal updates any more than I do. Thank you, as always, for letting us know that Harry is doing so well. I can totally relate to the pitching machine incident too. Good for him. Not surprising for him at all, is it? Get em Harry! Best wishes for a great season!

Happy Easter to all on this Board. We are just back from a cold rainy Easter weekend on the Carolina Coast.
While the weather was dreadful, it was a good chance for Harry and Morgan to spend some time with my parents and my sister's family.
Went to a local church for Easter Mass, St. Egbert's which Harry and Morfan both thought was a great name for an Easter church.
Today is also, as Harry said, "my last Mass without Communion".
Thank God as when Morgan made her First Communion, I was petrified that he would never see his.
God is truly good.

I'm very happy for Harry and for your whole family Elvado. I'm thankful that bad weather is the only thing keeping Harry indoors on a holiday with family. Harry is a rock star. Happy Easter to you all.

With Holy Communion next on Harry's list, things are really looking up. God bless your whole family, Elvado.

Yesterday Harry made First Communion. Three years ago he was too sick to attend his sister's First Communion. Needless to say, we have been very blessed.
He looked fantastic in his white vested suit with bow tie. He walked ramrod straight and never wavered.
Then we had one hell of a party. Harry and his little girlfriend danced throughout the party which was attended by 75 or so members of the family and friends.
However the best part of the weekend for me was when he got up today excited to have "Second Communion" at 730 mass this morning.
He has truly been touched by the hand of God.

Elvado,
Yesterday my daughter also made her Holy Communion. She is the third of my four children to be so blessed. All four received Baptism on campus.
I have followed Harry's story of his and his family's courage and strength of conviction. You have touched my life as a father and, as a result that of my wife and children. I wanted to personally thank you and let you know Harry and your entire family remain in our prayers and continue to have a meaningful presence in our daily life.

Big sports week for the little man. Went 3-3 in his Little League game and caught one inning. Then we found out he made the U10 travel team in our local soccer club.
This Saturday he has a soccer game followed by a baseball game and then caps it off by going to the Union game to see his good friend and GU alum Steve Neumann of the New England Revolution who has been very kind to him since Coach Wiese introduced them.

Great night for Harry Saturday. We went to the Union/Revolution match in Philly to cheer for Steve Neumann. Harry was wearing the Hoyas jersey Steve sent him ladt year.
After the game we had a chance to say hi and Steve took time away from family and friends to take a few pictures with Harry and treated him like the star.
As good a player as he is, he is an even better person and a wonderful reflection on GU.

Great post script to the Steve Neumann story. Harry brings in the picture of him and Steve for show and tell at school.
After he describes how he knows Steve and talks about seeing him at the game, some of his classmates asked him for a copy of the picture.
He replied, "not without the express written consent of the New England Revolution."
His teacher told us she almost Editeded her pants laughing.

Unintentional comedy from the little ones is the best. It's always stunning to me what kids pick up. Please do keep up the posts of snippets of Harry's being a normal kid now and then as you have done. They're always the best part of my day knowing that he's healthy and growing and just a regular kid. I can easily remember and feel the impact of your initial post about Harry. Every time you post something normal, it takes a little of that fear and hurt away because no kid should ever have to go through what your exceptional son has endured so bravely but there's still that initial shock that never fully goes away. There is zero quit in that little man and I hope to still be around to hear about all of his successes. Continued love to Harry and to your whole family. I don't envy what you've all been through but I am continually thankful that you chose to share it with the rest of us. Also, a huge tip of the cap to you for all that you have done as a father to make every day special. He's a special boy with a pretty great dad that will clearly do anything to put a smile on his son's face. The love you've received in return from athletes and regular people is not remotely by accident. Harry Saxa.
