But what I want to focus on today is how cool my 5 year old is. As a seminarian from St. Charles was praying with us today and asking St. Joseph's intercession in helping Harry to grow in faith, and serve the Lord's will, Harry looked up from his bed and in a tired, somewhat exasperated voice, said "how about the getting better part?" This is awesome. God love 5 year olds. You're on the road up from here - stay strong for him and the rest of your family.

Out of the mouths of babes, Elvado. I love it. Harry is definitely on my prayer list, and his intentions were mentioned at Mass yesterday. God bless you all.

Thanks to all of my brothers and sisters on this board. My little man is hanging tough and will begin chemo on Tuesday. First comes a Monday surgery to put in his line which will also harvest his marrow cells for the marrow replacement stage of his care. But what I want to focus on today is how cool my 5 year old is. As a seminarian from St. Charles was praying with us today and asking St. Joseph's intercession in helping Harry to grow in faith, and serve the Lord's will, Harry looked up from his bed and in a tired, somewhat exasperated voice, said "how about the getting better part?" Suffice to say, the prayer was interrupted by laughter (first good one in 10 days) and my already infinte love for my son increased just a little bit. Thanks to all for your prayers. HE hears you, and so do Harry and our family. Thanks to the Hoyatalkers that have provided prayers. I'm typically not one to pray but have been since this thread started and I use it as reference a couple of times a day. Elvado, I know this is a scary, uncertain time for you but we're all pulling for Harry and keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. Harry has already had an effect on this board. People genuinely caring about others here on Hoyatalk! I'm looking forward to the day when he's feeling well enough to make a post of his own telling us all how well he's doing. As for the quoted post, thank you for the best post I've ever read here. I choked up immediately after reading the first couple of lines then just started laughing at the end. Sums up exactly what is so special about kids. And, while I have no experience with what you're going through, it sounds like you're focusing on exactly the right things. Stay strong and thank you for the update.

Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support. Seeing your support for Harry has been one bright spot in some very bleak days.
That said, Harry gets his turn to fight back starting Tuesday when he starts his chemo. With God's love and some good luck (along with awesome medical talent) he may be sleeping in his own bed a week from tonight.
Big John said most basketball fights last only two punches, make sure you throw both of them. Cancer hit first, but Harry will kick its ass. HARRY SAXA.

I know I'm late, but my thoughts are with you and your family Elvado.
If anyone from Hoya Blue is reading this, is it possible to get a HARRY SAXA chant going during the game against Marquette next Sunday? I'm sure the students would embrace it and the story behind it. Also it is a nationally televised game, I believe on ESPN, and there is nothing like showing a little Hoya love right before Valentine's Day and what better reason to do so than this.

May the Holy One heal, strengthen and revive Harry. Speedily grant him a complete healing, a healing of the soul and a healing of the body, along with all who are ill, now and swiftly. And let us say: Amen. HARRY SAXA!

Just a brief update. Harry had successful surgery today to lace the central line which will deliver his medicine and harvest his marrow.
His surgeon ended up being the son of a dear neighbor. Small world.
He should be home for the Marquette game.
He is my hero. Thanks for the support and love for my boy.
HARRY SAXA.
