I agree with DHall's point about missing out on possibly valuable time building relationships with soon-to-be teammates but, outside of that, are people really disparaging the kid for taking extra time for making a very big life decision? He's considering his options and that's somehow construed as irresponsible or wrong or whatever derogatory term some have chosen? He's a kid making a big decision about his future. Maybe it's a tough decision for him. He should decide because some of us morons that love our school and watching our guys play think it's a good idea and because an arbitrary signing day exists? Come on. There are pluses and minuses for Devonta personally for signing and not signing. Take that out of the equation. Taking all of the available time to consider a decision like this in no way comes off to me as "me first." If anything, it comes off as the guy is trying his best to make the right decision. Let's slam him for that. Jeez.

Don't forget we are not talking about one persons comfort level, but two persons comfort levels. His mother is on record saying that wherever he goes for the next one-two years she will also be there. The person who made both of them feel the most comfortable about making that move to DC area, Kirby, has now left for LSU. I agree that if it had been a toss up between Georgetown and Alabama, he would have signed with Alabama when Kirby left. The two likely scenarios are that Kentucky is now in the mix or LSU with Kirby there is now in the mix.

If I was a top player like DP, I wouldn't sign an LOI. I would just go the financial aid route and better position myself in case things didn't work out. Smart move by Upshaw and a no brainer to me if you are a top talent. that being said, you would still let the coaches know you are coming. The longer it draws out, the better I actually feel because of how weird of a recruiting case this has been. Good luck to the kid regardless.

At some point people have to stop looking at this kid that we wold all love to have here, in a negative light because he is taking his time with this decision.
Until he becomes a memeber of a team, he should think of what is best for him and only him.
While it is easy to put negative superlatives on the kid as being selfish, indecisive, marching to his own beat, it could also be framed as him being thoughful, reflective and very caring in realtionship to proximity to his mother that he is close to.
We shouldn't think the worst of every kid who doesn't do exactly what we would like for him to do.

I would add that, in response to the notion that he should be working on fostering relationships with his future teammates by now, it should be noted that it is mid-May, and he is a high school senior. He's probably still a month away from graduating. His focus should be on prom, finals and enjoying the last moments of high school. Getting to know teammates is what Kenner is for, and that is still several weeks away. For now, let him enjoy being a kid while it lasts.

Every other kid in his high school class I'm sure knows which college they are going to next year. Deposits were due May 1st.

Devonta differs from other members of his class in that he doesn't have to decide until he wants to and he doesn't have to make a deposit because he's an outstandingly talented basketball player and schools will wait for him. I don't really care when he makes a decision and I don't understand how it reflects poorly on him if he waits until he's ready. He doesn't owe you any kind of clarity.
I don't expect him to be a Hoya, but do people think we're still involved? Part of me would think we'd be all-in on guards at this point, but we're seemingly after Finney-Smith and other forwards in 2013 so I guess we're still an option.

Hearing we're not even being considered anymore... Did you really think we still were anyway? This never really seemed like a Hoya win. I bet he stays somewhere close to his Twitter lady friend

The Sporting News story looks more like someone’s opinion than anything factual..

It's funny to see how this evolves. About a week ago, Bossi on Rivals wrote an article about how Texas and Bama probably lead and then he quickly posted on the message boards that it was his pure opinion based on signings made by Mizzou and the departure of Kirby from Gtown. Later, reports start popping up that Texas and Bama lead with no real ground (probably based off the Rivals article). It's rumor based on speculation. What a ride!

From Telep's twitter, it appears Missouri has been eliminated, but Gtown remains:
"Alabama. Texas. Georgetown. Devonta Pollard. Next man up."

Could Kirby still be recruiting for us? As in he asked if DP would consider LSU, he declines, but he tells him he still feels Hoyas might be his best option?

He would still pump our tires if asked honestly about the program?
