If we stop conversations on this board just because they're not worth having, things would get real quiet real fast.
Hey, I'm all for the inane conversation. But this is one step removed. Let's argue about where Devonta plays if and once he commits. Otherwise, we might as well argue what our 2014-15 lineup is going to be.
I think DSR will be starting.

Corliss Williamson, Fennis Dembo, Michael Sweetney, Danya Abrams, James Worthy, and Danny Fortson all say hello.
Corliss Williamson, aka "BIG NASTY", is a great call. Corliss I think epitomizes the undersized but skilled big man. He routinely went against taller players, in the low blocks, and was essentially unguardable without a double team. This all while being 6'6". In the NBA, he had to change his game, but in college he feasted on the low blocks and in transition. The fact is that there simply are not very many 18-22 year old's with a developed low post game. Guys don't know how to do it, or how to defend it, regardless of if you are 7 foot or 6'6". Of course, Arkansas had two 7 footers as well, so Corliss didn't have to be a defensive stopper at the PF position.
I have not seen Pollard play, but he could easily play PF at 6'7", 200 lbs. Its all about what type of game he has.

Wasn't aware Pollard was as good as all of those players. By all means, we should sign him up and plant him in the lane.
I also wasn't aware that Pollard, at 6'7" and a whopping 190 pounds, was a banger like Williamson (245 pounds), Sweetney (270 to be generous), Abrams (6'9" 250), Fortson (260), and Worthy (6'9").
I don't even get why this is a question. We have a ton of people to play PF -- Otto, Nate, Bolden, Hopkins and Moses and Tyler when they aren't playing center.
He's not going to need to play PF, and he's not playing PF over Otto.

I am not understanding this whole "pollard is a 4" talk. From the game film and highlights I've seen of him, the kid is just a player. He can handle the ball, shoot the 3, finish at the rim, and defend in the paint. The one thing I would like to see more is how he can handle defending a wing on and off ball. He's got all the tools to be a defensive stopper, just didn't see him in a whole lot of scenarios where he was asked to do more than just defend the rim (which he does very well).
If you just have to put a number by the kid's name, I'd say he would be a 3. He's even more of a 3 than Otto was coming out of high school....penetrates from the wing better, is more comfortable shooting the 3. With that being said, if he is on the floor with Otto i don't really think it matters who is considered the "3" or the "4" because both players would be used both to post up smaller defenders as well as spot up from the wing to knock down shots or facilitate the high or low post . And if you got into a situation where you are facing a zone, I would want Devonta on the wing with Otto roaming the high post because I think it would maximize both of their skill sets (Otto's midrange and Devonta's better penetration ability).

i don't get it either. otto is the 4. we'll have some 3 headed monster at center. nate will fit in somewhere, although i don't like him at the 5. the 3 is pollard's for the taking if we assume markel at point and greg at the 2. jabril and dsr back up both guard spots.
the good thing is we have a bunch of guys that can play multiple positions.
Pollard is a SF…. Why are we comparing him to Grandmama and Big Baby Davis..

Good question. The kid compares himself to LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Why some people think he's a 4 is puzzling.
This all started because ottomatic wanted to trash Lubick again and Lubick is the starting power forward. So to bring Lubick into the Pollard thread he had to make Devonta Pollard a power forward.
Ottomatic: "Devonta will start over Nate day 1 if we get him. The way Nate played last year, if he were a senior in highs chool he wouldn't even have been in the rivals top 150. Devonta will start day 1"
