I don't think the switch from Lubick to Hollis will make any difference if they keep playing the same minutes as they were before. People make too much of a deal over who starts. Hollis does everything better but pass, but he was only getting 22 minutes a game anyway and I doubt that changes. It's a cosmetic move. I'm a little concerned that it looks like the idea may be to go big which equals more minutes for Benimon, though. That actually could make a difference, and not in a good way. I give him tons of crap and he was still pretty awful on offense (please do not take 3's) but he was great on d and fighting for boards. It's hard not to like the guy when he does the dirty work like that.

Agreed that starting doesn't matter bu the lineups and the associated matchups matter. Playing Lubick at PF and Hollis at SF makes each of them better.

BTW, what did Evans do to warrant the T? Shoved John Caprio. Yes, that's right. John Caprio. ...from behind, in the back after he left his feet in the lane for a basically uncontested layup. Bad decision on Evans' part.

Well it's about freaking time. I've been waiting about five weeks for a game like this. And the part I liked the best was that Austin and Chris both shot poorly (8-24?), and we still won in a blowout. According to the stats I saw, the rest of the team was 16-23 up to garbage time.

I don't think that playing Hollis at SF makes him better (we've been over that a lot, though), and the only way he plays mostly SF is if Benimon plays a bunch. And that's not good. Benimon's supposedly out there for rebounding and he's been a worse defensive rebounder than Clark.
But whatever. Good win, and let's smoke an overrated Nova.

Moses should take all of Benimons time. They both are defensive specialists who can rebound... the difference is that Moses is bigger and stronger and has more of a post offensive game.

While I could do without seeing him get rotation minutes, I really didn't think Benimon was that bad tonight.

Benimon was better than usual for sure. I still can't comment on Moses because he hasn't seen any real time. Why no Bowen?

Terrific game tonight from the boys. This is the way I would love them to play every night and was by far their best peformance in conference. I assume they had payback on their minds tonight, they seemed surgical again in taking apart SJU. Hollis is so under-rated, he is going to be a player next season. The big 3 also played with energy and poise, even if CW and Freeman statistically did not have great games. They set the tone and the team did work.
As for Benimon, I really did not want to see him out there. However, we need to rest the starters and he gives us minutes. He uses his fouls, grabs a board or two and misses a few easy baskets. That said, I honestly have no interest in seeing moses take any of his minutes. The one thing Benimon has is poise and that is extremely important for our offense. Disrupting the rhythmn always spells disaster and I just to not want to risk it with Moses. Nothing was broke tonight, not even Benimon, so there is nothing to fix.

Lock it up.....before people start saying things they oughtn't.

Not to mention that he was decent tonight. I cringed at the 3 he took but it was a good, open shot and he looked fine taking it. Find new fodder.

Not for nothing, you'd could have started a similar thread about Nate after the first half. I don't think it would be a good idea, but you could have.

Great win, and much needed. My only complaint is that i still have to say that i've never seen a team panic so much with the ball under their own basket. Just hold the damn ball. Count to 2 and take a breath. We seem to make about 5-7 passes a night from that spot that just make you completely scratch your head. Rant over. Great win.

Great win. I've been a JV basher but I loved what he did for us tonight. Great job by him. Love the lineup change and the way both guys responded. Hard to gauge this one as St. johns really looked awful. Some of it was our D, which was the best it has been all season. But Lavin looks to have lost his team. If we shoot similarly in Philly we'll have a shot against 'Nova. Can't wait.

Just got back from the game. What a disaster this area is.
As for the game, I was happy with how we played tonight. I thought we were quicker to the 50-50 balls than they were all night, and our perimeter shooting looks to be back on track.
I liked the lineup switch getting Lubick the start. As others have pointed out already earlier in this thread, Hollis is a mismatch in our favor coming off the bench against virtually sub we face 6-8 minutes into the game. Lubick looked a bit nervous in committing those turnovers, but settled down and really hit the boards well (just needs to finish those putbacks, but that will come in time with added strength).
Loved seeing the improved defensive effort tonight. Far less uncontested shots, and I thought we did a good job on the boards. You could definitely see a renewed effort and commitment to the defensive end, and it showed. We did a better job in getting back in transition, but there is still room for improvement.
Wish JTIII had put in the bench a little bit earlier in order to save their legs for Saturday, but this is really nitpicking since he did get pretty much all of them in the last 2 minutes. I'm probably also the only one so far who thought that what we did the last few seconds was bush league. There was no reason to take those shots up 20+ under 30 seconds to go, and if I'm SJU I'd take exception to that too (re: the Caprio foul). JTIII needs to tell his guys to dribble it out, as badly as they want to score. We want to win, but win with class. Shooting a 3 at the buzzer when the other team has given up is not classy.
Decent showing by the crowd today given the circumstances, and for the most part they seemed into the game.
Hopefully our boys can carry this momentum into Philly on Saturday and continue improving. Good job tonight!

I thought the same. It annoys me, and we've done it before.
