I am a bit off my game so I hope that the legend of Jahidi can still hold up in reality. I went to a game at Temple a few years back. I remember it being in a pretty rough part of town, but I seem to recall a good bar right next to the arena. I do not want to give away trade secrets, but alcohol is the fuel that keeps the Jahidi engine running. Is my recollection of a good bar nearby accurate? Any tips on public transportation back to the downtown area after the game?
I cannot wait to catch another Hoyas victory!!!!

There is the Draught Horse ( www.draughthorse.com/) around the corner which is where the HHC is having a pregame starting at 7:30. I'd probably just cab it back downtown. It shouldn't cost much. I avoid SEPTA like the plague.

Jahidi, I believe that was where we first met, and it was my freshman year, so that would make it 7 years ago. I remember the Temple student section chanting something along the lines of "Little B:tch" at Causey that game.

From watching the game yesterday and looking at their stats the Owls do most of their scoring from mid range in. They don't seem to rely on the 3pt shot alot, at least they don't make a lot of them. The 2 guards have very nice mid-range games and either pullup and take the 10-12 footer or dish to their big men for easy layups or dunks. I think the matchup zone would be in order for most of the game until they shoot the Hoyas out of it.

Off topic a bit, but I thought I would post some of my observations to this point (because I know you all care):
1) We are finally seeing the true ability of our guards to create off of the dribble. I think having Hibbert, then Monroe, down low has discouraged them from showing this aspect of their games. This year, they know they are going to be relied on to score and appear much more willing to get to the rack on their own.
2) Without an expected rebounder (Hibbert, Monroe) everyone is hitting the glass harder. Our bigs have been doing a great job, but so have our guards. I think that there is no expectation that someone else will grab the board, and more often than not you will see two or three Hoyas on the ball after a miss.
3) College basketball is a guard oriented game. Been discussed to death, but true - nuff said.
4) College basketball is a three point shooting game. Even games where the Hoyas have not shot it a lot, the threat of shooting it has allowed for penetration. When we have hollis, clark, freeman and wright on the floor at one time, I have no doubt we are the best shooting team in the country.
5) Simms = beast.
6) We can easily switch between different looks. We saw against Utah St. a switch from a traditional squad to a full court pressing team with minimal change in personnel. Our press looks to be legitimate and gives us pace options we have not necessarily had in prior years. It appears we can speed up or slow down a game as we choose, whereas in the past it has seemed this teams pace was largely dictated by our opponent.
7) Defense must still improve. Its early, but while the offense already looks like a finished product, our defense must improve before march. No reason to think it wont.
8) Freeman give me chills. He is an assassin.
9) JT3 can coach, for those who may not have already known that. Simply put, we have seen a continued evolution in the use of personnel and in game strategy.
10) I fully expect a rough patch this season. I also fully expect us to bounce out of it.
- - Lets do this. The road continues.

I agree with everything except for number 10. No rough patch!

After watching Maryland- Temple game its clear this is the biggest team the Hoyas have face this year. They have 6 guys on roster 6'9" or better. It looks like Thompson will have his hands full with Allen 6'9" and Vaughn will be matched with 6'11" center Eric. I went back and watched the game from last year with them and I wondered who was this 6'11'' number 30 for the Hoyas who kept throwing the ball away and making a foul every time down court? It was the old Henry. Now we have the new no. 14 Henry who is playing like a star. What a difference a number makes. The Hoyas will need you Henry to play smart and not to foul a lot. Stay on your feet until offensive player has jumped first.

While they may have 6 players on the roster that are 6'9" or over, 2 are freshman who have them have never seen the court to date this season even in their blow out of yet to win a game toledo. That leads me to believe they're redshirting. 2 others are seniors 1 of which hasn't played a game yet and the other only got into 1 game for 5 minutes. So they really only have Eric and Allen when they come out temple subs in 2 6'6" forwards not the 4 other 6'9" kids.

Per the SID Office, the game will be switched to ESPN (not currently showing on the ESPN schedule though).

Pascal was OK, but not as impressive as the passing skills of Mike 'Ice-Ice' Sabol.

Any of the Owl fans lurking around out there care to post a scouting report?

I have to be honest - I think this is the game that comes back and bites us. I don't feel good about playing there. They are a great defensive team ; we really haven't shown ourselves to be a good defensive team this year - and defense usually wins.
