You know they won't, man.
But I'll say this. Just because it's Friday and for kicks, I was going to try to come up with a list or at least one or two challenges to your "best show airing" claim.
You know what? I couldn't do it. I couldn't come up with anything right now that is as good of a TV show as Justified.
(Caveat: I haven't seen The Killing yet. Also, I think there are good shows on the pay networks, but I deliberately left those channels out).
Sadly, I think this speaks more to TV overall than it does to how good Justified is (and I do think it's really, really good).
And I've given a number of shows a try. Since I like FX, I tuned in to Lights Out, but that show is just plain boring. I thought Being Human was promising, but it's so goddam whiny (can someone make a show about vampires or werewolves that breaks out of the typical ennui, PLEASE!!!). The shows on TNT really aren't worth much at all. Forget the networks. They can sometimes get a comedy right, but there hasn't been a good network drama since ER (and even that sucked in the last few seasons).
You know what's kind of sad? I think Burn Notice might be the only show on TV right now that I would consider being in the same league as Justified.
EDIT: I forgot about Lost, of course, in thinking back on the last good network drama.

Anyone here a Damages fan? I watched the first two season on DVD and liked it. But the third season seems to be mysteriously unobtainable.
Overall, it's not the greatest show ever, certainly, but it has an interesting style, some cool twists with flashbacks/forwards, and Glen Close, Ted Danson, and a few of the other actors are very good. (A lot of folks from The Wire are on it: Lt. Ralls, Lester, Narice, and one of the newspaper guys from season 5.)

I think Burn Notice might be the only show on TV right now that I would consider being in the same league as Justified. I watch Burn Notice and enjoy it but here'd be how I compared that to Justified : - Justified : outstanding writing, at least four performers worthy of an award this season, and that's not even counting Daniel from Lost or the guy who plays Art, or Jere Burns who are all excellent - Burn Notice : average writing, three of the worst actors on any network TV show (Fiona, Michael, Jesse) and two good supporting actors (Bruce Campbell and Sharon Gless) I'd put Burn Notice in the same league as Hawaii Five-O, which is really watchable, but other than Scott Caan, can't see that winning any awards for anything. Chicago Code is pretty decent, but nowhere in the league of Justified. Terriers was in the same league, but that got canceled. I don't watch Mad Men or Breaking Bad, but given what I've heard, I guess they are in the same league, but they aren't airing right now.

I just picked up the Season 5 DVDs and I am very excited, if somewhat baffled by NBC's marketing strategy that allows me to purchase said DVDs before the show even airs on network TV (I don't have access to DirecTV or the patience to learn how to torrent this stuff). Breaking Bad has been revelation for me (got first two seasons for Christmas on DVD), though it should not be surprising given the critical acclaim it has received. I am working my way through Season 3 now, and just find the show devastating - I want to watch more, but can only handle 2 episodes a week at most. I will definitely finish before Season 4 premiers sometime in June, I think. On the pay channels, it might be time to resubscribe to HBO with the return of Treme, especially now that Bourdain is formally involved in the writing team. I might give Game of Thrones a shot if I am paying for it already, but I don't usually get too excited for the fantasy stuff. Camelot and the Borgias both look like trashy fun that I might get to on DVD at some point. 2012 is a long time to wait for new Mad Men, but at least I know it is coming.

Just wanted to say this: I @#$%@#$ love Norm MacDonald.
I know sports and comedy normally don't go together too well on television (see The Onion SportsDome, numerous attempts on Versus, or whatever disaster Kenny Mayne has planned ever...God he is atrocious!), but Norm MacDonald can make me laugh no matter what he is talking about.
Not everything about last night's show worked, but I had several laugh out loud moments. From the opening joke ("you can read my review in Norm MacDonald's suicide note"), to the entire Tiger Woods segment, I thought it was fricking hilarious.
More importantly, Norm is ridiculously underrated as a comedian and he deserves some success, so I hope this show works out for him.

I was unfamiliar with Norm until last night.

Norm could read the phone book and make it funny, but some of the material was admittedly from his stand-up act. The show needs to get him some writers.
"F. Lee Bailey said this week that if the defense only knew what Ron Goldman's last words where, they might be able to find the real killer. You know, if you ask me, Goldman's last words where probably, ah, “Hey, you're OJ Simpson!” --Norm on SNL, 1994

Last night's episode was good, my only complaint would be that it was far too obvious that the assassins were Dixie Mafia sent by Gary and not a crew sent by Mags Bennett as revenge for Coover. They should have muddled the waters a bit more there and made us guess who did it.
Boyd vs. Dickie for control of Harlan County was a plotline they set up that I never saw coming. That was absolutely fantastic, and there's no question who is going to come out on top there. Boyd FTW.
Raylan's pep talk for Loretta was fantastic too.

My guess : they were arguing over life insurance beneficiaries at the divorce proceedings for a reason.

Did not see that ending coming at all. Agreed. On a related note, which one of the voices in his head to you think it was that told Gary to come up with that plan? The fat guy from Armageddon?

ESPN is killing me with all this draft coverage. I can't wait until that's over. I'm not into the royal wedding, either. I'm turning in to such a curmudgeon.

Tonight's episode is supposedly the episode that gets Olyphant in the Emmy conversation. Can't wait for it.

The way ESPN handles the NFL makes me want there to be a lock out. I don't need NFL 24/7/365. Right now there's real life, actual sports going on--I'm semi interested in the draft, but not more then baseball and the NBA & NHL playoffs.

Anyone else disappointed in the Justified finale? I guess I don't feel like Mags would have behaved that way - admitting the crime, etc. just because Loretta was a little girl. And then kill herself instead of Raylan? Didn't really seem the type.

Obviously I'm way late to this TV party.... Per usual HBO's got it goin' on -- diggin' the second season of Treme and have fallen head over heels for Game of Thrones. Who's read Martin's books?

I thought the Justified finale was absolutely fantastic. The last scene was an absolute doozy - I thought they set that scene absolutely beautifully with callbacks back to Mags/Loretta's Dad, and absolute ambiguity as to who had been poisoned. I had no problem with what they decided to do with Mags - Coover was dead, Doyle - who was the future - was dead, Loretta had pulled the trigger on her once and almost did twice, the business was gone, and she had already disowned Dickie who is a walking dead man - what did Mags have left?
The one character action I feel needs to have happened is that Raylan better have shot Boyd. New old Boyd would not have stood down in that instance.
