Sorry, I thought I heard someone say something, but it was just the crickets chirping.
Who woulda thought before the season that we would collectively feel deflated after starting out 3-2 and the wild realization that maybe we're not going to sweep the P.L.?
Oh well. I look forward to chatting with the 8 others here who think 3-2 is a pretty good place at this time of year given our recent history and are still sort of excited that the program is turning around.

Count me in the latter category (although I think it's at least nine people . I'm still energized, and looking forward to catching the team at home again this weekend, after having had a great time at the Holy Cross game. I think the main thing is it's tough to tell how much of the 'gate game was us regressing, and how much was them just being better, and having a very strong rushing attack (complete w/ a big, fast O-line).

Just to note : hoyatalk2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=football&action=display&thread=22495Expectations back in august were very limited. My initial thought was 5-6, but after 5 games i'd like to up that. Our remaining schedule is as follows: 10/09: WAGNER 10/16: BUCKNELL 10/23: at Sacred Heart 10/30: at Fordham 11/06: Open 11/13: LEHIGH 11/20: MARIST I'm waiting for DFW's update on Wagner (*cough*), otherwise I don't know too much about them**. Not sure if Darby will be in, so that might dictate alot. Assuming he comes back and is healthy, I call it a W. After that, I see us potentially going 5-1 if we play lights out (assuming one let up game in there or loss to Lehigh). Could you imagine Georgetown Football being 8-3 after being winless last year!!! Even at 7-4 or 6-5, or hell, 3-8, you have to be tremendously proud of the turn around! Here's hoping the boys live up to my new expectations! beat Wagner! I assume I was part of the original count... ** I'm allowing DFW a pass with the Rangers in the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. I'm not getting much done this afternoon thanks to that. Cliff Lee is a stud (finally against the Rays)!

I look forward to the newsreels going crazy when the Rangers down the Yanks in 6 in a bout 3 weeks. I love to hate the yanks/sox/NE sport biases, and look forward to putting them in their place. I also wish to recruit CC to gtown's fball team next year. that's one big ass dude.

derhoya, I was a bit more of a pessimist than you (having too little pessimism has never been a problem for me):
"I predict 3-8. We beat Marist, Davidson plus at least 1 PL opponent. I think a great goal this year is .500 or better and being competitive in every game. That would be a nice improvement and give the team a real push to success (both in terms of Ws and Ls and campus support) in the future. "
Regardless of what happens the rest of the season - and I agree with derhoya that over 500 seems very realistic - this has been a great turnaround. My hope when I predicted 3-8 was competitiveness and in 4 out of 5 games this year, we have been. I see no reason that we shouldn't win or at least be competitive in every other game this season. And look what's happened now that we are competitive: the team is no longer a joke on campus, visits from the regulars on the basketball board have been more frequent, the anygivensaturday.com guys are picking us to win on a weekly basis when last year at this time they were saying we should fold the tent. That's awesome and gives us something to build on. Once we get a head of steam as a program, we'll do great against our competition.
Let's keep building and beat Wagner!
