at Lehigh this Friday. The Hoya men are going up against 41 other teams. Teams to beat will be Iona, Princeton, UVA, W&M, and Tennessee. The women will be going up against 40 other teams with the team to beat the national champ last year, Villanova. Other schools to look out for are UVA and Tenn.

The men did well, losing to UVA (ranked 22nd ahead of the 24th Hoyas) by 17 points and finishing 2nd over all. The first 15 teams in the race (42 in all in the gold race):

Iona, which is ranked 12th, finished 29th in this race, which is good for the Hoyas in the at-large teams for the NCAAs. I am sure that Iona was not running a full team, but if they Hoyas beat them, and they make the NCAAs automatically, it means points for the Hoyas.

Here are our top seven:
2. Georgetown 1826 4 Ayalew Taye, Sr 23:54 4:49 fantastic race for Ayalew, in what is probably his best race ever as a Hoya. 1820 12 Tc Lumbar, Jr 24:12 4:53 another fantastic race by TC; he proves that he is one of our top runners this year; he has really improved. 1817 31 Alex Bean, Sr 24:39 4:58 1827 33 Anyan Tyler, Fr 24:40 4:58 this is more like what our top recruit can do after a mediocre race three weeks ago. 1825 67 Andrew Springer, Fr 25:03 5:03 still expecting better things for Andrew 1818 100 Evan Bloomberg, So 25:12 5:05 1819 140 James Grimes, Jr 25:27 5:08 coming back after injuries Total Time = 2:02:27 Total Places = 147
If we had Mark Dennin this year (redshirt with an injury), we could have won the race. I am hoping for consistency for our top guys, and some steady improvement for Springer and Grimes.

Also running for the Hoyas were Brian Manning in 197th place with a 25:51 time and Bobby McGann in 303rd place in 26:35. I am wondering where the other redshirt freshmen are, like Bobby Peavey and Ben Furcht. And where is Dylan Sorensen, who missed the first race with a sinus infection. If Dylan had run, again we would have beaten UVA.

It is taking forever for the women's results. Just have a rumor: rumor that Lady Hoyas put 7 in the top 20, and uva a distant second place.

Women win easily, big runs for Emily Infeld(winner), Madeline Chambers,(Fr) Kirsten Kasper(Soph), Emily Jones 4th. Decent improvement for Katie McCafferty and opener for frosh Joanna Stevens. Did not appear that Rachel Schneider ran. women definitely solidify their top 10 ranking.
Men definitely had some nice runs by Taye/Lumbar + improvement by Anyan, still seems to be even money proposition re making the NCAA--if they race very well at the regionals they should do it, if they are not at the the top of their game they probably fall short.

The rumor right in a way, but the women put 7 in the top 17!

Great running by all. Spread in the top five was 36 s, and top seven 54 s. The Emilys are going to lead this team, as it was nice to see Emily Infeld start up where she left off last year. Good run for frosh Joanna Stevens.

Lauren Borduin in 71st place in 21:51 and Laura Gallo in 117th place in 22:16 also ran. Villanova, #1 team in the nation finished 39th of 41, obviously running their D team.
