Poster on another board posted this fragment from ESPN:
"He's a great looking athlete that knows how to score and showed the ability to consistently knock down the 3-ball," LaPlante added. ":He was also very effective creating off the dribble for either himself or his teammates. He should be a great fit for the Hoyas as he has a good basketball IQ and also gets after it in the the classroom as well."

Great to see that a Philly kid is going to be a Hoya. I can't recall the last Philly player on the team. The closest I can remember was Marc Egerson and he was from Delaware but played in Pa. You would think that with AI playing in Philly for so long that we would have been able to tap into the the great talent that plays in Philly. Nova gets a few here and there and Temple, St Joes and LaSalle get some left overs but most of the stars leave the area. Georgetown seems like a good place for the player who wants to get away but is still close enough for family and friends to watch him play. It seems that until recently we didn't even recruit Philly that much. It's not like everybody else doesn't recruit in our backyard.

Welcome to the Hilltop Jabril! Everything I have read has indicated he will be a great fit in a hoya uniform and on campus. Athletic, committed to defense and can shoot the 3; a combo sorely needed for the Hoyas or any team for that matter.
Like some other posters, I like to see us get into a new recruiting market as well, Philly & NYC are big misses in my mind.

Couple little blurbs from ESPN...
July, 2010: Trawick may have had the biggest weekend of any player in the tournament. He is a tough, well-built shooting guard who consistently got to the rim and showed the ability to shoot the ball from behind the 3-point arc. A relative unknown outside of the greater Philadelphia area, his play in Myrtle Beach caught the attention of programs such as Cincinnati, Florida State and Alabama. Local schools like LaSalle, Drexel and Delaware have done a great job in the recruiting process and will have to fend off outsiders throwing their hats into the ring.
"Trawick drew a lot of attention, from a national perspective, with his play this summer," said ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Mike LaPlante. "We first caught his act at the Big Shots Tournament in Myrtle Beach and thought he had the potential to be an outstanding high major shooting guard.

When this philosophy produces numerous championships I'll believe in "read/react"--until then--it's time to get away from this mentality and get people who are team oriented and don't have to told to be aggressive/motivated. Like two regular season BIG EAST championships and a BE Tournament championship? Or the other kind? Welcome to the Hilltop, Jabril!

ovr 50% of the top recruits can't get into Georgetown and succeed in the classroom.. It also takes a mentally alert player to understand the Princeton and make it work. Greg Monroe was that type of guy who could succeed on the Hilltop, both academically and as a team player. Unfortunately I agree with part of what this post said and it's pathetic. I think the Princeton system should include team play and that is hard for guys to put aside ego/share shots/limelight, BUT....... "It takes a mentally alert player to understand the Princeton"..... Why is this even mentioned as a positive? This is the dumbest thing about "the system" and anyone who adheres to using something where people with talent have to think how to play instead of playing with natural instinct is a clown. Sharing the ball/playing as a team is great--and SEVERAL teams do that and use their roster, use young players, and have guys who can make smart basketball plays without having to wait for 2-3 years or see 1-2 minutes per game. When this philosophy produces numerous championships I'll believe in "read/react"--until then--it's time to get away from this mentality and get people who are team oriented and don't have to told to be aggressive/motivated. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The Georgetown system is no harder to learn than any other "system." In fact, I think you could argue it's probably easier to learn than other "systems." Where's all the bitching about the dribble-dribble-drive-vacate-Final-Four-Appearance offense that Kentucky runs? That seems like just as complicated. Sometimes I think if it was called the "UMCP offense" instead of the "Princeton offense," people wouldn't think it was only a system for "smart" kids.

It's about as stupid as recruiting people and never playing them and then using your style of play and how long it takes to understand what to do as a reason to not play them. Anyways--welcome to DC JT5--love the Shrek shot your Aunt took at John Thompson-that was classic and for that reason alone--I look forward to a "Trawick's Auntie" chant at Hoya games.
