Welcome Jabril!!!
Seems like a good solid kid that has really upped his stock as a player over the past 6 month or so. While he may not be the "big name" guy we were hoping for to break this recruiting drought we have seemingly been going through, it is good to get a player "on the board". Hopefully he will be able to be a very good 4-year player for the Hoyas. Now let's lock in some BIG guys--both in name and stature.

For the people who might be skeptical about an unranked guy who had other offers that may not have been from powerhouses, he's:
A Philly kid 6'5 or 6'6 and a sg A slasher Emphasizes and is known for his defense
I remember a couple posters about 5/6 months ago and before mentioning how the new blueprint they wished the coaching staff followed when picking up 4 yr players or players in general was to get very athletic, multi skilled, multi positional, defense-oriented tough players. Trawick seems like a great step in that direction.

Awesome.
Midnight Madness is usually a productive recruiting event for us so now that we've finally made a dent in for 2011 lets lets keep it rolling and get some quality kids in McDonough

Welcome to the newest Hoya! You made a great choice.... though we're all insanely biased here.
I haven't seen JT play but his profile sounds like just what we should be looking for.... a possible 4 year kid with length that plays D and wants to be a Hoya. Love it. Work hard, play hard. Hoya Saxa!

“The coaching staff and the group of players that I will be playing with is a big reason why I chose Georgetown,” Trawick stated. “ The time we will get on television is awesome and I really like the Verizon Center. There are a lot of connections there, it’s like a pipeline.” Reason #714 why we don't want to be "under the radar."

He got to do a shoot around on Sat morning with Roy, Jeff and the boys at the Booth. I understand he tried to dunk on Roy and got stuffed. So the Booth was rather impressivre to a recruit.
Reason # 2 to stay under the radaR.

We dont have the facilities, or the huge population of hot coeds say a Fla St has (these are things that shape recruit's decisions) but what we do have that a school like Fla St does not, is the fact that many of the Hoyas games will be nationally televised. Thus, to fly under the radar and be lower ranked means some of the bonuses we have, we'd lose. If we are not in the top 25, do you think we get tv time? If no tv time, how do we counter what some of the other schools have we dont? I think the quote is there, its pretty black and white. Trawick liked the fact we get tv exposure. Not saying he would have went elsewhere if we didnt play on tv, but it is definitely something a recruiter can sell, cause he damn sure cant sell facilities or loads of hot young sorority girls...

It's not a strategy. It's a short-term preference that some people have that has the supposed benefits of:
1. opponents not giving us their best game like they do for highly ranked teams 2. our players not getting too cocky
Is it really hard to explain why some people like their team to be the underdog? I can totally see how it could help a team in the short run.
No one is saying that less tv is a good thing.

ovr 50% of the top recruits can't get into Georgetown and succeed in the classroom.. It also takes a mentally alert player to understand the Princeton and make it work. Greg Monroe was that type of guy who could succeed on the Hilltop, both academically and as a team player.

Welcome Jabril, we can't wait to see you in a Hoya uni, we know you will be a great addition not only to the team, but to the university. Oh, and for your first assignment - please immediately burn anything in your house that is orange.

But I dont know how it is relevant anyway... Welcome Jabril!

Greg Monroe was that type of guy who could succeed on the Hilltop, both academically and as a team player. Unfortunately I agree with part of what this post said and it's pathetic. I think the Princeton system should include team play and that is hard for guys to put aside ego/share shots/limelight, BUT....... "It takes a mentally alert player to understand the Princeton"..... Why is this even mentioned as a positive? This is the dumbest thing about "the system" and anyone who adheres to using something where people with talent have to think how to play instead of playing with natural instinct is a jackass. Sharing the ball/playing as a team is great--and SEVERAL teams do that and use their roster, use young players, and have guys who can make smart basketball plays without having to wait for 2-3 years or see 1-2 minutes per game. When this philosophy produces numerous championships I'll believe in "read/react"--until then--it's time to get away from this mentality and get people who are team oriented and don't have to told to be aggressive/motivated.
