2011 has definitely become a major downer, but let's also not forget that there will be decommits by top players and coachign turnover, these are only verbals after all.

Another option is to see if there are any 2012 recruits who can and would be willing to enroll early and come in 2011.

Another option is to see if there are any 2012 recruits who can and would be willing to enroll early and come in 2011. You start doing that and you are commiting suicide in terms of relationships with HS coaches---and Georgetown already doesn't do well with the AAU "world"--so why alienate the HS coaches to? This is a desperate attempt that people who have no answers beg/plead to see kids do--due to the inability to get the job done in the class of SR's. It's absurd to do and let kids be kids and if anything--work harder at your job and you won't have to resort to such ignorant methods of recruiting. Why would kids who turned you down previously--and didn't want to go to your school want to go there now? That means you better produce during the year-and that goes for any undecided kids that wait for Spring--but the problem with that--it involves the word "wait" and that is something this reactive program does far too often. They wait for things to happen on the court, in recruiting, etc...and those who wait.......well as you see they resort to trying to get HS kids to enroll early-which is so short sighted it's ridiculous. This works in CFB--because of the physical/schematic development that is needed-in skill sports like basketball---impact can be made by kids who go to HS-afterall it's been proven yearly--so why push someone to do something? Wreaks of desperation and pathetic/inept evaluation of prospects and/or how they view your program.

Wreaks of desperation and pathetic/inept evaluation of prospects and/or how they view your program. The reason that this works in football instead of basketball is that the football season is over by January when spring semesters begin. Hollis' situation was altogether different being that he was ineligible to play his senior year due to the move so it made sense for him to do it. But asking an eligible kid to skip out on his senior season...well then its clear why this is not done with any degree of regularity. Whatever methods of recruiting we have recently employed need to be scrapped. We are going to use this wait til next year approach every year. We certainly said this about 2010 and 2011 classes and now we are saying it in 2012. Folks, beggers cant be choosers. We need to throw out offers and not wait around because we are left holding the bag. Now do we just bring competent bodies in here or do we save the schollies? Tough question because with no bodies, we are an injury away from playing walkons. But if we do bring bodies in, there are very few left and we are essentially depending on finding a diamond in the rough. This is a very unsettling feeling to say the least...

I wish. Ware has repeatedly expressed a desire to stay in the southeast. UGA has put out some feelers on him on him as they are anticipating this could be the last year for Leslie and see Ware as his replacement. Ware stated in the attached article that G'Town was too far away from home so I wouldnt cross my fingers on him. With that said, the sanctions against UT dont seem like they will have much impact so it is not clear he will decommit. But if he were, dont expect him to travel to DC... espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/news/_/id/64072/kevin-wareStill keeping my fingers crossed we can turn this class into something respectable though.

(Just a thought .. On the other Hoya board I have a Thread called "Hoya Twitter news" or something like that. It may be a good idea for this board as well. It's kind of hard to seperate the 2011 and 2012 news) Either way.. here's a few other interesting tweets:
@demathahoops:
Head Coach Buzz Williams and Asst. Coach Aki Collins from Marquette stopped by school today.
Coaches expected to watch workouts today....and Mikael Hopkins has his in home with Texas and Head Coach Rick Barnes tonight.
List of schools that came to the workout today very impressive. Villanova, Texas, OK st, Howard, Rice, Rutgers, Boston College, Notre Dame
Head Coach Mike Brey from Notre Dame is speaking to a group of DeMatha folks tonight. Great to hear his story.
@nationwidenolan:
Kyan Anderson visited Oklahoma 2 weekends ago. Will visit Providence soon.
out of the top 30 kenpom teams from last year only 5 return four starters: UW, G'Town, Mich State, OSU and Utah State. #random.
Clemson, Villanova and UW return the most rotation players (25% > of team minutes played) with 7 each. (& no, Pitt was not a top 30 team)
@therecruitscoop:
“I’m still considering them but like anyone that will always be a problem." Adonis Thomas on Tennessee's issues, per @adamzagoria.
@memphisroar:
The Memphis staff stopped in on 2012 Point Guard LJ Rose of Texas today.

Totally off point, but I can't resist.
I'm LJ Rose of Texas My friends all call me Tex. When I lived in old New Mexico They used to call me Mex. When I lived in old Kentucky They called me Old Kentuck. I was born in old Shemoken Which is why they call me LJ Rose.
I'm sure there aren't more than a handful of us who have any idea what this is referencing.

Thats a nice little fact to know, too bad Mich State is one of those other experienced teams. I can't wait for this season to start and to stop this recruiting nonsense! Don't all the #1s at each position know that Georgetown is the best and they should commit immediately ;D

With all that activity, do students at Dematha actually go to school?

With all that activity, do students at Dematha actually go to school? That's funny. As an alum, there's nothing at DeMatha that's stressed more, but it was funny going to school there sometimes. You might go to the bathroom, and there's Coach K washing his hands, or you might go out to your car and Jim Boeheim is out in the parking lot just chatting it up with a few students. To be honest, if you didn't know it was going on, you wouldn't have any idea it was something out of the ordinary.

This is big time. Virginia stud drawing a lot of comparisons to Chris Bosh. Have been hoping we were on him.

I have two problems with "moving on to 2012."
1. Our roster next year will be severely lacking. Three guards, three wings and three bigs. We couldn't even scrimmage with scholarship players. That also includes seven players who really haven't proven anything, meaning Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson are the only guys you can really count on.
If that's the situation, you need some volume.
2. It also could potential mess up 2012-13 as well. Clark goes. Leaving more sophs and froshs to step into leadership roles. I love the potential of a lot our guys, but man, that's a lot of risk to take on.
3. My biggest issue: there's still a lot of good players out there, both ranked and not.

3. My biggest issue: there's still a lot of good players out there, both ranked and not. Such as? Name that "lot of good players out there" that the Hoyas have a realistic shot to land. We appear to be major longshots at this point with any of the top 100 kids that have listed us. I understand your desire to be optimistic, SF, but it's borderline delusional to say that the Hoyas have a legit chance with high quality players in the class of 2011. If we're going to take the Trawicks and Reichsels of the world, I'd almost rather hold the schollies until the spring to see what additional players emerge and what players might be available from coaching changes.
