Great Game by the ladies and Great crowd today. Let me put this tie in perspective.
ND has not lost a big east game in 3 years they have gone 76 games with out suffering a loss in conference play. In that span they were 72-0-4. So we are only the 5th team to even tie them during this stretch.

Great game by the Hoyas in securing a tie against the University of Portland East (aka Notre Dame). NCAAs here we come!

The Women will take on the #3 seed from the American Division USF on the hilltop this sunday Halloween at 1pm.
The Hoyas defeated the Lady Bulls by a score of 3-1 when they met on kehoe back on the first of october. I feel like the game was a bit closer than the score indicates. USF is a tough opponent and probably a tourney team as well. 47th in the RPI the 5th ranked big east team in terms of that metric.

Women up to #17 in the RPI (I don't have stats, but I'd have to guess this is at or near an all-time high in program history for end of regular season RPI).
Don't want to say they're a lock for the NCAA's, but they're certainly sitting in strong position leading into the BE Tourney!

This is taken from a website i frequent. These numbers are based on the October 14th report where we were #22.
"My rules of thumb for using these to see how the NCAA Tournament bracket might work out, for this week's reports, based on 2007-2009, are as follows:
1. #1 seeds: Most likely to come from teams ranked #1 through #6.
2. All seeds: Most likely to come from teams ranked #22 or better (but outliers ranked #30 and 43 as of this stage of the season have gotten seeds).
3. At risk of not getting an at large selection: #31 or worse (with one outlier at #26 as of this stage of the season that did not get an at large selection).
4. Reasonable chance of getting an at large selection: #68 or better (with one outlier at #73 as of this stage of the season getting an at large selection).
5. Putting 3 and 4 together, the likely bubble group as of this stage of the season is the teams ranked #31-#68."
So based on that I think we're pretty well locked into the tournament, and might even get a seed and a home game.

women drop their quarter final match against USF in 2OT. Hoyas dominated all game and then got caught on a counter attack. They should still make the NCAA's but now may have fallen out of the possibility of being seeded.

Tough loss for the women. The NCAA is biased on seeding procedures anyway (IMO), so even if the Hoyas had won, a seed would not have been inevitable.

www.guhoyas.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/110410aaa.htmlIngrid wells named BE midfielder of the year! "Wells was one of two Hoyas on the All-BIG EAST First Team, joined by junior midfielder Kelly D'Ambrisi (Trumbull, Conn./Lauralton Hall Academy). Junior forward Camille Trujillo (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X) earned All-BIG EAST Third Team honors and freshmen Kailey Blain (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) and Emily Menges (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) was selected to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team. " "In addition to the individual honors, Georgetown was the recipient of the second annual team Fair Play Award. Under the direction of seventh-year Head Coach Dave Nolan, the Hoyas totaled 85 fouls and zero yellow or red cards during conference play. The Fair Play Award is given to the team that accumulates the lowest amount of points using the following scoring system: foul (one point), yellow card (five points) and red card (10 points). "

So based on that I think we're pretty well locked into the tournament, and might even get a seed and a home game. Don't believe it. Point #1 is ignored all the time if the University of Portland is in one of those top 6 ranked teams. Once or twice they have won national championships even given their lousy seeding. The last two years they have come into the tournament ranked 2nd or 3rd and were seeded behind #1 seed Stanford or UCLA and had to play them at their home field, when you would think they would not play them outside the final four.

well it does say most likely. And the reason for what happens to Portland is due to the fact that geography plays as much if not more of an effect on seeding than any other criteria. Can't have 2 #1 seeds in the west. That's crazy talk. lol.

Portland got a #1 seed happy Nevada? You bet I am. It must have been that nasty email that I sent to one of the women on the seeding committee last year.
