I like those rebounding numbers!! Especially Moses with 10...seems like him and Nate will constantly be battling for the rebounds . Henry came in with 12 too!! 38 points for Chris!!! Only looking at stats (can't wait for a recap), but seems like today was a good day for the Hoyas!

I hate that Chris and Henry wear Bobcat green uniforms this summer.

who did Austin have the altercation with? He seemed as angry as I've ever seen him. #12 on Team Turnover was the guy, who did not shake hands with Austin aterwards. Looked like some after the whistle stuff late in game when Tombs was on defensive end. Did not see the sequence. Refs just sent both guys to bench but did not T either guy.
Other than that, Austin looked very good. Got to the rack when he wanted, stroke looked great. Very smooth. Best player on the floor, IMO.
Jeff hit a 40 footer a the buzzer at the crowd's urging. Did whatever he wanted. Mostly took 3s and defended.
Nate and Hollis did not have great games. Hollis did attack the rim much better in the second half and hit a trademark corner 3. He seemed to be thinking instead of playing, passing up a lot of open 3s early on. Nate seemed a little out of sorts. He needs some work on his jumper, but that will come. Nice hustle on a turnover going other way, and a very crisp bounce pass to Austin from high post that Austin almost turned into the most ridiculously humiliating dunk I have ever seen.
But, no lack of effort from either guy. I think their games were altered by having a certain Mr. Green in the lineup.
Moses is bigger than I thought. Thicker. Was all over the glass and altered a lot of shots. Anything else he does is gravy, but he has 4 years to learn.
Bowen was a very pleasant surprise. Very active on both ends. has a nose for the ball. Smooth stroke on the 3 ball and not afraid to pull the trigger. I remember him hitting more than one 3, but will defer to jk. Nevertheless, I think we may have a player there.
Markel seemed to be trying to do too much early on and pushed the envelope. Got much better as game wore on, especially defensively. Very sound; always in front of his man even though he was one of smallest guys on court. I think we will love his toughness. His 3-ball will be a nice addition as well.

Was able to make it to parts of the middle two games. No stats, just some impressions:
#22 was bothering Julian and got in his head for a little while. Julian was built like a man amongst boys out there but struggled today.
Vee was a little off today too. Despite that his quickness makes him a potential defensive stopper/disruptor. After looking at the athleticism on the floor there is absolutely no reason we shouldn't be able to press a little this year.
Jeff Green is a beast.
Austin Freeman should be a 1st rounder in the 2011 draft.
Nate and Moses both looked kind of off today. It's obvious that Nate plays with a mentality that many on the board of clamored for - relentlessly hitting the boards. He's an intelligent passer and should fit into our system well. Once he hits the gym he could be an ox. The form on his jump shot is the equivalent of slapping God across the face.
Moses physically looks like an impact player on the defensive end. It'll be interesting to see what his learning curve is in terms of positioning and whether he can give anything on offense or whether it'll be mostly around the basket stuff.
Bowen was the most impressive player not named Austin and Jeff for Tombs in my opinion. Very under control and surprisingly skilled. Also, like Hollis, very long for his position.
Markel had flashes where he's have a beautiful drive/teardrop or drive/dish and you can see his potential. The matchup against Bowie was a lesson for him though as Bowie burned by him repeatedly and generally torched him on the offensive end. Markel would be well served to start pounding the myoplex shakes.
Ian Hummer looks like he could be a very nice role player, especially considering the level he's at.
Dino Gregory might actually be a decent role player for the twerps this year.

I tried to be a little gentler. ;D I'm a Nate fan already and think he's going to bring back some of that mid 90's and earlier toughness but when he set up and took that first wide open three I was like ui17.gamespot.com/1744/lolwut_2.jpgEdited. Avoid remote image posting.--Admin My bad.

Loved what I saw from Bowen. Agree with others on Markel, saw some real flashes at times - impressive athleticism & confidence. In a different way, I really liked what I saw from Nate - not just a muscle man, but a real team guy, always looking for his teammates. His passing didn't pay off, unfortunately, but that wasn't all his fault. Pretty good position D from him, too. Moses is quite the physical specimen, was very active.
Always fun to watch Jeff, who basically did whatever he wanted.
In the earlier game, liked what I saw from Julian more than what I saw from Vee, who opened the game with three straight missed shots and three straight turnovers. He had some nice moments later, but #30 was the best guard on his team. I don't know who he was - small guy.
Austin played great on offense but looked ridiculous with his mouth guard hanging from his teeth most of the game. ;D
Big crowd today - maybe the Post article pulled some extras in?

Just some quick observations from the games I saw:
We have the best backcourt in the country. Chris and Austin are studs. I would love to see them in a non Princton offense. They are really underrated. I keep hearing about Singler and Nolan Smith but our guys severely outplayed them.
Chris-stud as usual Austin-best player on court I know he's an NBA player. Vaughn-is tough but was off today. Love his aggressiveness. Agree guy from other team frustrated him today.
Vee-is extremely athletic but what position does he play. Looks a lot stronger. Doesn't look like a pg to me.
Markel-reminds me a lot of Chris when he was a frosh. Hard to judge him today since Jeff was playing today. Very smooth and quick. Very good on ball defender. Happy to have a backup to Chris to lower his minutes and increase effectiveness.
Moses-strong on boards but serious candidate to be on a poster. He tries to block everything.raw offensively but doesn't play out of his element. By time he's a jr. He will be a problem. Gtown will get him better. His rebounding will be a plus. I think he may be able to steal some minutes.
Nate-looks real unrelaxed today. Hard to judge him. Rodney even went as far to tell his guy to go by him he can't play his jumper is in the Bill Cartwright/Shawn Marion section. Too passive. Needs to stop trying to pass so close to the basket.
Aaron-pleasant surprise. Reminds me of Hollis. He looks like he may be a steal. Shoots is very well. Couldn't tell how his handle is because others dominated the ball.
Hollis-still too timid for my liking. He's a very good defender but he plays like a young Ashanti Cook.Would love to see him stop deferring because he has a lot of potential.
Henry-decent but didn't like the fact he was being bullied by a D2 big man even though he was good.like the facts he's on the boards.
One last point- Did some put chicken grease on the ball during the Tombs game. The ball was flying outta hands all over the place.

FL had Chris down for 40 points. We need an official scorer. I was trying to figure out if this was the most points I'd seen a Georgetown player score in a Kenner League game. The only other player it could be is Roy Hibbert from that one monster KL he had in summer 2006 when he was scoring 25+ pretty much every game. I found an old recap of the 2006 Kenner quarterfinal where Roy went for 39 and 20 with 8 blocks. That was a pretty ridiculous performance. But didn't find anybody who hit 40 except Chris.

I recall PE2 had one game in the summer of his transfer when he may have hit 35. That would have been 2005 if memory serves, and my recollection is that it was early in the summer (one of his first games). I don't have any stats though from that time.
MCI may remember more than I do. He attended regularly that summer.

It was only 1 Kenner game, but man - was very impressed with Bowen.
I actually disagree with some who have been saying he's like a shorter version of Hollis - I think he's a more dynamic type of player. It looks like he has the ability to create his own shot, slash a little, etc. He is definitely similar to Hollis in that he is long and has a very nice stoke, though.
Looks like possibly a very good get for somebody who probably had the least hype of the 4 freshmen.

He has a similar body type to Hollis, but he's shorter and isn't as good a shooter (I assume - he's shot well so far in Kenner). On the plus side he is quicker and more coordinated, so unlike Hollis he doesn't look awkward and uncomfortable whenever he tries to do something besides shoot a 3.

I have to go check my notes but I don't recall ever personally seeing a Hoya go for 40 in the KL. And some of the big time GU guys I've seen play in person in KL are:
Sweetney Othella Bowman Gerald Riley Wesley Jeff Pat Roy Jon Austin Chris Gregory DaJuan

Let's see Hollis is about as tall as Julian, he doesn't appear to awkward at all, now that his body has caought up with his height. As far as smoothness and moves he appears to be able to eat the lunch of all our bigs- JV, JB, MA and NL, but not Hank.. His handle on the ball has gotten real good, not a Chris or Austin,I mind you, but better than DaJuan ( Detroit Pistons), Jerelle, Julian, Nate and Moses. What do ya think HSB, big dog?
