It just seems to me that Cuse will have too many players for Noel to want to go there: Melo, Keita, Christmas, and Coleman. That's 3 5 star big men. That's either a Senior Junior and sophomore when he's a freshman or a Junior sophomore and a fellow freshman depending on when he decides to enroll. So how can a school with a mediocre record of getting big men into the Show have 3 5-stars at once when we don't have any??? And whose coach is going to leave them when they jump ship to a new conference.

Quoting RDF from the A. White thread: "... you recruit Nerlens Noel as a '12 recruit. He's going to re-classify and pull an Andre Drummond. He'll say all the right things--but come next August, you want to be in position to take him and not be caught off guard." Maybe we're too logical (and biased ), but after watching the first few games, Nerlens has to see that he fits like a glove and will have a very strong team around him in '12.

Why do we think we have a good shot on Nerlens? Rivals doesn't even list us as a school he's considering.

Remember he WAS supposed to visit G'Town along with Brantley.
Nerlens has always maintained his interest in G'Town. Lip service? Maybe, but it's hard to get a gauge on his recruitment. If I'm not mistaken, the only school he did visit in the fall was Syracuse. And Syracuse's big man coach? Bernie Fine.

Noel vs. G. Monroe in high school
any comparision between these two and how Nerlens would fare better in our system than Greg?

Noel is more athletic and much better at the defensive end. He is a menace on defense and a great shot blocker. His passing skills in my mind are as good as Monroe's and he'd be just as proficient at running the offense. I'd give the edge to Monroe in terms of his array of post moves and ability to create scoring opportunities down low.

I think all bigs need to develop some kind of scoring abilities to play in our system well. I wonder how much he can do in paint against BE big men competition.

Noel goes hard left off the dribble with some success. He often is not quite strong enough to bull his way, but can elevate to finish near the rim.

In that order.

I'd move Jordan ahead of Pollard. Hoyas need a point more than another wing/hybrid.
I'd do:
1. Noel 2. Williams 3. Jordan 4. Meeks 5. Gathers 6. Domingo 7. Pollard 8. Parker
I only put Parker and Pollard low cause I think it'll be difficult for Pollard and no chance at Parker, imo.

Its cool that I would be ridiculously excited to land any one of those eight players.

Of course there are some other kids being looked at that aren't mentioned.

I would eliminate any big recruit who is not expressing very serious interest to come here. After watching Henry's development and the Twitters who have "mentored" him/taking credit for working with him during the off-season, plus all the other tangibles GU offers, it would be crazy for a big not to make GU his #1 or #1A.

You go after this kid without any qualifiers. He is that good. Watch some video, you will agree.

Just curious as to why you rank Meeks as high as you do. Is probability playing a role in your rankings?

I'll say this:
1. Noel-cause he's the best shot blocker in a while. Developing offensive game. Wiry strong. Program changer. 2. Williams- cause he's top 10 and auntie is the women's hoops coach and Boo are close to program. Athletic beast, but UK or UNC may be too tough to turn down. 3. Jordan-cause he's a need, tight with Jabril and Philly tough. Also, he's 6'4. 4. Meeks-cause he's mentioned Hoyas a fav growing up and is a Mourning fan. Need to lock him up and not stall him. 5. Gathers-cause he's an impressive specimen who attacks the glass and is from fertile recruiting ground for Hoyas. Hoyas may be too late. 6. Domingo-cause he can stroke it and folks are big on academics. Hollis clone. West coast kid. Not big fan, but he can shoot. 7. Pollard-cause Kirby is on the Mississippi kid and he's a freaky athletically. Versatile. Prolly wants to stay in the south. 8. Parker-cause he's as fluid a big as I've seen for his size. Don't think Hoyas have shot, but folks reportedly high on academics.
