zo was compared to russell when he came out of high school....repeatedly....they said he blocked shots, and kept them inbounds, thus gaining possession, like russell

I went to the Boost Elite 24 Pros vs Preps game last night and watch Noel play. This kid is long and athletic and even has good handles. He matched up with Kenneth Faried and more then held his own. They were battling and the pros kept trying to throw Faried oops and Nerlens would just jump up and snatch it. Also after the game like with Kyle I asked him if the brawl influenced him one way or the other. He said it was good that they didn't back down and fought back and since the school didn't get in any trouble then it was not a problem. Hopefully we get this kid as he could be the next great big man to come to GTown.

That answers that ....the events that went down in China in no way hurt us according to Kyle.

For all the talk of him being a top priority I haven't seen/read much to back it up....

There hasnt been much recently, a lot from his Coach, but remember he is a 2013 kid, so there have been other guys that the "press" has been focusing on more when it comes to narrowing down schools.

Someone on HR brought up a good point....for 2012 the Hoyas should keep open a schollie just in case Noel pulls a Drummond.

Mentioned this in the Kyle thread but Nerlens Noel is also playing in the Elite 24 game at Venice Beach. Pretty sure their on the same team (Purple).
Saw him instinctively go for a backdoor cut with 6 left in the first. Natural Gtown fit.

Scout reporting that Nerlens Noel is going to be Class of 2012.
Sounds like Syracuse, Providence, UConn, and UK in the mix. Not sure where Hoyas stand.

While it would be amazing to get him signed up for 2012, I don't see it happening. Of course, I didn't see the Sox blowing a 9 game lead entering September.

Probably shouldn't have had Brennan as his contact the past 18 months. Oh well.

As much as some have said he was our #1 priority for 2013 I've never seen anything that indicated we were making him a priority. Of course we should have been, but it didn't seem like we were. It's going to be really frustrating to see him go to Syracuse.

If Georgetown didn't understand the possibility of this--they are so out of touch it's sad.

it has always puzzled me why everyone was claiming he was the #1 priority for us for '13 and we didnt watch him play much at all this summer (at least according to reports). Rumors of him reclassifying are not new as RDF mentioned. He hasn't really released a list yet has he? I believe he said he would soon. In any case this would be maddening if we really just didnt recruit him

You know, you can basically just cut-and-paste the recruiting threads year-after-year. Tons of optimism and pats on the back to JTIII early. Then, a few big recruits don't sign, and the hand-wringing starts, accompanied by much second-guessing and criticism.
From "milkshakes all around" to "the staff doesn't have a clue" within the bat of an eye.

I would hope the staff had pretty good information from well placed sources to NOT watch a kid who is as an elite prospect that not even a year ago admitted that you were his favorite.
Sadly, I don't think that's the case and it's just mind-boggling to me.

I don't get it. This kid is reputed to be the best defensive center since Zo. And he expressed an interest in us. How could we not be on him constantly? Someone please explain.

I've been thinking that since July when all I read was JT3 following KA all around America. As soon as that business was over and when the actual school year started I though III would be making up for lost time and making Nole a priority. Especially considering guys like RDF have been predicting for months now that Noel could move up to the class of 2012. But it appears III has been asleep at the wheel when it comes to this recruit. Just great. First Christmas. Then the dude that chose Villanova. And now Noel. Three big men who at times have been reported to favor Big Man U all may wind up elsewhere in the Big East. Really, JT? It is one thing if we still can't attract the top guards and forwards but it is quite another to fail at getting elite big men.
