My thoughts-whatever little they may be worth- on this "recruitment": Noel sure seems to be enjoying the ride, but not in an arrogant or self-aggrandizing way. He could be going the L. James a**hole route. Seems like a solid, thoughtful kid, which cannot hurt us. From what I have seen and heard of Upshaw, I sure hope the staff is on him. Another good kid who happens to be a beast.

Agree 100%. This is getting annoying.

He was however the first I remember to book his own TV special for that announcement. Noel is going an already scheduled program about recruiting to share his decision.

Noel announcing on ESPNU is not analogous to Lebron. To be like Lebron, Noel would have to come to Georgetown for a year or two and then hold a nationally televised press conference to announce he was transferring to Kentucky.

And then choke in the playoffs taking UK out of the picture at a critical moment (LBJ is pretty average for being the chosen one).
BTW, Lance Stephenson...aka...Born Ready...is still ready on the Pacers bench as the 11th man.

The "shock the world" tweet bothers me a lot more and is a lot more representative of a gigantic ego than the TV show.
I already hate him and he hasn't even spurned Georgetown yet.

Oh, come on. He's actually generally a very quiet kid and very respectful to any and everyone.

Half the people here sound like Nerlens broke up with them and kicked their dog on the way out.

This whole attempt to decipher the "shock the world" tweet definitely reminds me of the battle of wits in the Princess Bride. Is he really going to shock the world by choosing a different school or does he just want us to think he's going to shock the world and really will pick the school favored all along?
"But it’s so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemy’s? Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me."
And yes, this is meant in jest.

Fact of the matter is, our name is in the hat. Only problem is there are 500 names in the hat and 400 of them are KY.

We need to have some perspective, people. I think NN will pick us because we are a great program, with a great tradition, great academics, and a family atmosphere. I know this is futile, but if NN does choose another school, I hope we don't bash the decision of a kid who turned 18 years old today. Let's keep two things in mind (1) we are biased; say what you will about Kentucky, and SUcks but there are good, objective reasons for choosing either of them including playing for a title or playing with a good friend; (2) he's 18. even if we think he's making a mistake, it happens. how many kids choose a college and then reget the decision and transfer? how many kids choose a college and stick it out regretting the decision? I think he should pick Georgetown, but he's a one and done kid. if he doens;t pick us, maybe he'll regret the decision, or maybe he won't but hopefully we don't have to worry about it at all. In either case, this is a kid we've LOVED for many many months. He may become our rival in a few days, but that doesn;t make him a bad person. All that said, I'm hoping someone gets in his ear about loyalty. Some of this stuff from the Kentucky fans is laughable. Less than a day after winning a National Title for the first time in more than a decade, they are more excited about getting another recruit. What happens if you got to UK and win anotehr title. Not only will you be jsut another player on the list with Terrence Jones and Anthony Davis that helped UK win a title, but a few days later, the fans that loved you so much will be on to the next. Don't win the title and you will be forgotten even sooner. Not sure that resonates with a recruit, but I found it kind of ridiculous. Win a BET Tourney title or go to a Final Four at Georgetown and you will be remembered and celebrated forever. And you will join the family at Big Man U. But again .. I'm biased. Go Hoyas!!!! espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/basketball/mens/story/_/id/7794990/drama-builds-nerlens-noel-shabazz-muhammad-announcements

If what he said is true, I feel a bit better. I actually do believe that him and Shabazz aren't actively trying to join forces. I saw an interview with Shabazz in which he actually seemed pretty angry that Nerlens surpassed him as the #1 player in the country once he reclassified. Maybe it ignited a bit of a rivalry between them.
