Noel actually is a lot like Monroe--who had great hands/got a lot of steals for a big-which was effective on his hedge defensively-and throw in Noel's shot blocking when he recovers to rim-and it's just a great combo to have defensively.
I don't know - I am still bit reserved about NN's skills - He definitely has all the physical tools and athleticism to be successful. But the skills and IQ are what separate Anthony Davis and Andre Drummond. I think most people will agree with me, correct if I'm wrong, but NN is not going to be the second coming of Davis. I see him closer to what Andre Drummond brought to Uconn. Although most people knew that Drummond was going to be at Uconn, many posters on this board also thought getting Drummond would put us into a FF. Besides the bad chemistry on UConn team, even if Drummond was on our team (I think he would probably start over Lubick), I don't know how much of an impact he would have brought.
On the side topic, I know it's not going to happen this year, but I hope some day, guys like Shabazz would come to Georgetown. This type of players with this much talent will completely change the program and its perception, just as AI did before.

He probably won't be as good as Anthony Davis. Will he be a huge step down? Absolutely not. He'll be as good on the defensive end, and maybe a bit behind on offense, though I think he could actually play just as large a role on offense as a facilitator. I don't get why people are starting to really sell Nerlens short. He is an incredible talent. #1 player in the nation. He would dramatically benefit this program.
Honestly I think sometimes it's how certain fans make themselves feel better if they don't think they'll get a particular player. "Well he's not that good anyway" or "He's not a program changer" when in fact he has all the talent in the world to be that good and change a program. There were larger issues at UConn than production or lack there of by Andre Drummond.
Why are there some posters that seem to have buyers remorse before he even commits? All I read about for 100 pages is that this guy is a program changer, now im reading that hes limited. Weird. It sounds like this kid is very talented Id be so happy to have him and pollard come tomorrow!!
Remember Nerlens was originally a '12 member and only moved to '13 because of an injury. Turns 18 Tuesday, so he's neither particularly young nor particularly old.
I'd be down with that lineup when Starks is a senior and Otto is in the NBA. For next season tho 4 freshman and a junior and our best guy on the bench seems foolish.
Threadjack of the week right there. Now we can spend a page or two discussing insane lineup combinations that include three players who aren't on our team and one freshmen that most of us have never seen play a minute of basketball.
"I was wondering what was keeping this thread alive. That it is a discussion of what they call a famous defensive system and how and why hifi was banned from various football boards is not surprising in the least." -jgalt

So you have no faith in Jabril, Greg, Mikael, etc. Funny how people often lean towards the new toys.
"This is too much madness to explain in one text!"
