Any thoughts on who makes/doesn't make the final US roster?
I won't pretend to know as much as others about this sport in terms of all the players, I just love to watch it. But the teams have to get down to 23 pretty soon, right?
I've read a few articles about the US roster & defense seems to be the real question mark, but I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of those here who follow it a little more closely.

I haven't heard anyone very excited about the options to pair with Altidore up top, and we might even see Clint Dempsey in a linking role between the midfield and Jozy. Then again Bradley's love of Brian Ching might get him in the lineup, or Edson Buddle's MLS form might actually be meaningful.
Don't really know enough about the D except to say that it always seems like US centerbacks are woefully slow compared to world class strikers from elsewhere, but the keepers usually are good enough to make up some of the difference, and I expect not much has changed.

Are we expecting gooch to start? He hasnt actually got in a game yet, has he? That was a brutal blow, worse than davies, which was very bad. Even if he starts, he wont be the player he should be by now sans injury.
All right guard, begin the unnecessarily slow-moving dipping mechanism.
Any recommendations for sites on US Soccer / the rest of the WC field? I'm looking for something to kill some time / ramp up my excitement / knowledge before the WC starts.
I also just read that many of the European squads are training at altitude to prepare for conditions in the High Veldt, and that there is yet another funky new adidas ball in play in South Africa - I find it odd that the US team is apparently training near sea level and using the standard Nike ball in their home friendlies (albeit using the adidas ball in training).

I'm no fan of ching, but i think we went with Findley because he's a poor man charlie davies. They pretty much went for speed in that pick. Other than that no real surprises in the line up.

Nice technical site, if that's what you're interested in. I just discovered it, but it's pretty interesting and seems to be updated frequently. www.zonalmarking.net/

U.S. looked good in the 2nd half today. Even though Dempsey played better in the 2nd half today at midfield than he did in the 1st half at forward, I would still like to see him start up top. I hate Ricardo Clark (does nothing going forward, and is only mediocre defensively) so I'd like to see a pairing of Torres (who played fantastically today) and Bradley in the middle, with Donovan on the left, Holden on the right and Dempsey (in a slightly removed position) and Altidore up top. That lineup gets our most skilled players on the field.
Also, Spector was again atrocious and Cherundalo played well so I think there is a good chance wee see a back line of Cherundalo on the right, Onyewu and Demerit in the middle with Bocanegra on the left.
Finally, Findley may have earned some time in South Africa with his game today.
Torres simply must get more PT, he's deserved it for too long and he showed why yesterday. He's quite gifted. Agree that Findley has earned himself some real minutes in SA.

Not to mention the fact that he clearly has the best hair on the team.
