rooter, I agree totally with the ugly duckling play in game we have now. I don't think that would necessarily be the case with the improved formats we have discussed. And as for Robert Morris, I wasn't dissing them. That was just the first name I thought of. And as we all know, Nova shouldn't have been a 2 seed anyway.
Finally, my point is that, however they do it, a feature 4 games on Tuesday or 2 on Tueday and 2 on Wednesday could be a welcome attraction -- either between competitive teams jockeying for a "first round" win in the dance, and the right to advance to face a #1 seed and potentially shock the world ... or between a Miss. State and Illinois team that would be fighting to advance against a 5 seed. I see the benefits of both formats. But either way, I think it has tremendous potential to be a huge improvement over the odd ball nobody cares game on Tuesday that we have now.

Well, I'd have preferred to have the last 8 at-large teams playing each other, but I guess this is the best we could have hoped for.

pretty good compromise. I understand both arguments. It actually helps the mid major at larges to have them play in play in games because then they actually have a chance to earn some money for their school/conference. whereas against a 16 seed they have no chance of getting that extra paycheck for winning a game.
My one problem is what is this TruTV thing that the games are going to be broadcast on?
I actually was able to find it on my FiOS so I guess it's not that big of a deal but really? can't show this on a real tv station?

Yeah I agree, could be better but a good compromise.

My one problem is what is this TruTV thing that the games are going to be broadcast on? What's not to like? TruTV as I type this is in a mini-marathon of "Hot Pursuit"...which appears to be a re-purposed highlight package from "World's Wildest Police Videos". Followed at 6:00pm by...you guessed it... "World's Wildest Police Videos"! Then we've got a double shot of "Cops" and an evening block of "Operation Repo". No, this doesn't come in HD. Meh, Virginia Tech's uniforms are nasty anyway.

TruTV is the network formerly known as Court TV, fyi. Mostly reality shows, etc., with a fairly loyal audience according to the people I know who are addicted. It makes as much sense as OLN's bid for the Stanley Cup a few years ago -- totally transformed them into a legit network.

rossy, it's funny to hear you mention that. That was the first thing that I thought of when I heard that TruTV was going to carry the First Four -- Ourdoor Life acquiring Hockey. And I also agree that they are now a legit network -- isn't that Spike?
Also, isn't TruTV part of the CBS family of networks? And didn't CBS and Turner form an affiliation much like ABC and ESPN did? The pooling of strengths seems to be the wave of the future once again.

OLN became Versus. TNN became Spike.

Thank you stig. Right you are. Either way, the world is better with a Vs. or a Spike in lieu of OLN or TNN, much less, both of them.
