All this love for 2011 is great only if we are able to sign some of them and that remains to be seen.

All this love for 2011 is great only if we are able to sign some of them and that remains to be seen. Exactly. And if the class of 2011 is so great, that of course means that all of the other schools we compete against will be loaded too. It's not like Syracuse, UCONN, Duke, etc. ever have scholarship problems where they can't offer top players. Another reason to live for today. I don't want to be a season ticketholder of a program where everyone is always talking about "next year" or "just wait until the year after that". Win this year. Without Monroe, we will be fine, and any addition at this point can only help - even if it just pushes the existing players more in practice.

All this love for 2011 is great only if we are able to sign some of them and that remains to be seen. I remember in 2009 we were all saying the same thing about 2010. Don't waste any scholarships on '09 because the DC area has crazy talent in the '10 class and gtown is going to get a ridiculous group. Well, we got a nice class, but not a "top 5" type class. I agree that we hold the '10 scholly for '11, because we're not desparate for bodies, but I have to say I'm far from convinced that we pull a "top 5" class in '11. It very well could happen, but I bought into the hype last time and ended up disappointed.

While I have no "inside" knowledge, I would be shocked if we picked up another 2010 recruit. Not only are we in play with a number of high level 2011 recruits, but we are not being listed with any of the remaining 2010 recruits who could actually steal minutes on next year's roster. Picking up a project at this point would be dangerous for the program considering we are already locked in with Vee, Jerelle and Moses. Indeed, we already have 12 scholarship players on board for next year which is quite impressive in itself. I think we hold on to the four 2011 scholly's -- and hope for the best with the "impact" recruits who are currently listing us.

You can't get players if you aren't on them early--and last time Hoyas were this involved with so many--as in casting a wide net (which is how you assure yourself of a great class) was when III took over--and the talent has reflected he did a good job then.

Right RDF. Clearly the defections/transfers have crippled the program somewhat. It's actually a testament to the level of coach III is in that GU would still be this competitive after that. Lesser coaches would have buckled by now, imo. Now that said, gotta reel em in too. I'm confident the Hoyas will have a top 5-10 class for 2011 and going forward.
P.S. I believe some cats got called on the carpet and were told to step up their recruiting game or find yourself another job. Just my opinion.

Perhaps we can find another Hollis type athlete, who is smart enough to graduate and enroll early. By red-shirting them a semester, they get more time to learn the system. Hollis did Ok this year as a 6th/7th man because he had time in the system the spring before. Some of our freshmen have struggled with the system the first year, some haven't like Greg and Austin.

If they're high majors they're not gonna be redshirted. Y would they? They'll go elsewhere. Enrolling early is an option, but rare. Dawkins and Hollis are bright kids who took the plunge, but they were convinced to do so to help their respective programs; not cause they wanted to, imo.
