Pulling out what's left of my hair.
Pierre (who I happen to like), Rios and Teahen hitting about a combined .100.
They get solid or better pitching performances from Danks, Floyd and Garcia and go 0-3. Very discouraging.

Pierre has always been wildly overrated, though at some point he'll have a hot streak and we'll have to listen to people talk about how good he is. Rios was a gamble on a player who had a good half-season (at least he's kinda young). And Teahen is more or less a backup corner player.

I would only disagree on Pierre to the extent that the Sox are picking up only half his salary. I think he's worth that. I thought the Dodgers were insane to sign him to the contract that they did, since the guy has no arm, no power and doesn't walk much. But I still wouldn't be surprised if Pierre hits close to .300 with 60 steals, and that's what the Sox were looking for. I thought the Rios signing was a huge gamble and that the Teahen trade was senseless. I just hope I'm wrong.

Liriano's back.
29 Innings, 3ER (0.93 ERA), 27Ks. 10BBs, .097 WHIP.
Oh, and the Twins are currently leading the Majors in walks with an average of more than 5 a game. Let's see here--an Ace, a deep pitching staff, a solid bullpen and an offense that takes pitches, gets on bases and has power? This is going to be a fun season ;D

Even with that, though, the Twins still look like the best team in the Central.

Even with that, though, the Twins still look like the best team in the Central. Rauch isn't Nathan, but because the rest of the bullpen is really good (and the Twins have two guys in the high minors that can likely bolster the 'pen should anyone falter), he'll only be asked to get three outs w/o blowing the save, he's more than good enough to be an above average closer. The Twins made the ALCS in 2002 with Everyday (I give fans a heart attack) Eddie Guardado--I'm not particularly worried about Rauch. Not to mention the fact that the Twins have enough prospects in the minors to add a better closer at the deadline if they feel it necessary.

Well, Fields and Getz (the two guys Kenny traded for Teahen) aren't playing for KC, and Teahen is doing a serviceable job for the Sox so far, hitting .277, so that trade looks okay. (Fields is out for the season with a major injury -- Kenny strikes again! (See Sirotka, Mike.)) I hate Pierre, and I am currently wondering what the hell was wrong with keeping Podsenik, who is currently killing the ball in Kansas City, as the leadoff man.

Liriano finally got his fat ass in shape. Don't understand why he got fat--his legs weren't hurt.

I'm sorry to hear he's out, although I don't regard him as much of a loss. I liked Getz. I hear Teahen is a really poor fielder, so I think that the Sox have taken a step back on their infield fielding. I still have faith in Pierre, and don't expect Podsednik to hit .400.

However, we still end up with this: Greinke 8.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, lose 1-0. 2.27 ERA for the season, WHIP 0.98, 0-3 record.

Ramirez is an idiot. I don't watch the Marlins, but I suspect Fredi's an idiot too, for picking on his star and no one else. I know there are other Marlins who don't run out balls (it's MLB), and I imagine this is far from the first time someone's dogged it in the field or failed to try hard in practice, etc.
Ramirez is still an idiot, but going after your star player when you've watched others and not said anything is dumb, too. Because this can happen.
And he's even stupider for bringing it to the media. If it had stayed quiet, you think Ramirez doesn't apologize?

At the risk of attracting criticism, I will point out that the Indians traded their 1st baseman last week -- Russell Branyon?, something like that, I forget his exact name -- making room for Matt LaPorta to have a shot at the full time spot. Matt struggled early in the year -- hitting something like .220 -- but he tore up AAA to the .350 clip with tons of power. He is the first baseman of the future. In his first week up this time he's doing much better. He had 3 straight games with a homer, and accounted for the winning RBI in a couple of games. Not surprisingly, the Indians had a rare winning streak during the week as well.

Cliff Lee to the Yankees? Seriously?
At least I can still root for the Royals to finish .500 this year.

That Lee deal happens today or not at all. Have a hunch some other team will offer him more--and it won't happen.

Yeah, a blast. Actually, you can pretty much cover the last two weeks, with all the blown leads. Somewhere on one of these threads, I said when the Twins signed Thome that Thome would hit a HR to beat the White Sox this year. All I have to say now is @#&*#@$&*@#$*#@$@#%$*$%#$@@%$*$%.
