Get well, Austin.
Hollis stepped up pretty well for Austin versus Notre Dame offensively. Well, as well as I think we could reasonably expect. And Jason was accruate if not exactly tossing up the shots like crazy. We do need someone to take those extra possessions, and I'd like it to be Greg.
The bigger problem, I think, is defensive. Austin may not be a shut-down defender, but he's miles ahead of Hollis right now.
Also, Hollis only got about 25 minutes, though, on Saturday and Jerelle got 15. If Benimon gets most of Austin's 23 from Saturday, we're in trouble offensively. I like Jerelle for short bursts of energy, etc., but we're playing 4 on 5 out there quite a bit.

We know Hollis is going to get a lot of the time. Will be interesting to see who else picks it up and what works. I was thinking about this as well... if you figure a healthy Freeman absorbs 37-38 minutes in a normal BE game, my hope is we see something like this (assuming no foul trouble to work around): Mins37 - Wright - normal BE minutes 37 - Monroe - normal BE minutes 36 - Clark - normal BE minutes 28 - Vaughn - normally has been in 20-25 min range for a lot of BE games, but may need additional inside presence for rebounding 28 - Thompson - Given forward-orientation of WVU, would think Hollis gets at least 25 minutes like he did vs. ND (assuming Hollis' defense is up to the task). We need his 3-ball to be "on" as primary replacement for Austin's minutes 18 - Benimon - more or less normal load for Jerelle, but may need to pick up more slack if any foul trouble with Monroe / Vaughn 12 - Sanford - Per DFW's pre-game report, it sounds like guard-oriented lineups sometimes give WVU fits. Basically figuring that Vee could get additional 8 minutes as compare to 4 mins vs. ND, particularly to give us a defensive spark. 4 - Sims - While I'd love for Henry to "earn" more minutes by his on-court play, based on Coach's past patterns, not sure he'll get much more unless foul trouble on our bigs. Obviously tempo and dynamics of game will dictate where actual minutes end-up, I just hope that each player play as hard and as SMART as they can for the minutes they're on the floor. By SMART, I mean the players (particularly the startes) realizing that we need them to do best to avoid foul trouble. Obviously it will be a balancing act as we'd likely need to be aggressive in our play if we're going to be able to steal a game on the road. Go Hoyas!

Key to tonight is that Chris doesn't think he needs to win the game by himself. Hope III gives Vee a good run tonight - like he should have done Saturday. This is a winable game!

straight up this is a gut check game. the hoyas have turned in some sleep walking performances as of late. if rallying for a sick teammate doesn't get you going, i don't think anything will.

Anyone who paints this as a positive for the team has lost all sense of reality.... As long as it's only a one game thing, I don't see how it's the end of the world either...

Greg needs at least 15 shots tonight, we need to ride him early and hard, then go inside/out when they start to collapse. Make the country take notice tonight Greg. Hoya Saxa.

that or a late night shwarma from Quick Pita! Impossible for me to believe that Quick Pita hasn't been shut down by the Health Department after 20 years.
