Are you talking about the same Syracuse team that, prior to last season, had missed the NCAAs two years in a row? That team?
Where the hell is doseofreality when you need him?

Let's not lionize this particular Syracuse team is all I'm saying. They are not sitting on the mountaintop while we are begging at the table for scraps. WE ARE GEORGETOWN, GODAMMIT!! Anyone begging for mercy is the height of patheticocity.
Yes, they are having a good season, probably better than expected. But if you've watched a lot of their games (and I'm sorry to say that I have), they're not exactly world beaters. They're not Indiana 1976, or Georgetown 1984, or UNLV 1990.
I give them credit for winning a few close games that we have lost. There is definitely something to be said for that. But those few close games -- including one near loss to DEPAUL!!! -- are really all that separate us this season. They're not killing people, they're not lighting it up all over everyone. We are almost certainly their best win of the season (maybe throw WVU in there). Yes, in terms of Xs and Os, we may have some matchup problems with them, and there are some areas where they have an advantage.
But they don't have Greg Monroe. They don't have Awesome Freeman. They don't have Chris Wright (who, I might remind everyone lit them up last year). And they don't have JTIII!!!!!!
What I am saying is....They are eminently beatable. Just like Duke was. Just like Villanova was.
And now it is time for our revenge. So take it, Hoyas! Take it and stick it down their ugly God awful orange throats.
HOYA SAXA!!!

unlike duke & unlike nova, we match up poorly with them and they don't play man-to-man defense, which is our classic defense to feast upon.
we struggle w/ cuse for the same reason we dominate nova, regardless of how those teams manage outside of our contests. I personally just hope we manage to eek out a win, that'd be awesome.

This is definitely the lamest Syracuse week ever, hunh? I think everyone is tense that after losing to Rutgers and having to go to Lville next week, there is a lot of pressure on this game.
But, come on, we really need to enjoy this for what it is worth! Please continue the taunting...that is all.

Remember that thread where we made all kinds of threats/taunts by substituting Syracuse players, coaches, and fans into movie quotations? I'm afraid this is treading a little too closely to that.

Jake Scully: The Orange People have sent us a message... that they can take whatever they want, that no one can stop them. Well, we will send THEM a message. You ride out as fast as Metro can carry you. You tell the other Hoyas to come. Tell them JTIII calls to them! You fly now, with me! Brothers! Sisters! And we will show the Orange People... that they can not take whatever they want! And that this... this is our land!

Seems like some people don't realize the result that followed that thread last time . Seriously, don't test fate.

No kidding. Although I'm going to assume the majority of the board got the message, because there are only two of those posts.

Ha ha. Fate?
This team lost at home to South Fla. and was humiliated by Rutgers.
If the Hoyas lose by 25+ tonight, there's no shame in it.
Instead of having a week of delusional fun leading to a game against our alleged biggest rival, we going to a wake.

Yeah, rosslyn, I don't know where that came from, but get that damn nonsense out of your head toot sweet.
I don't know if you're trying some sort of fancy counterjinx, or if you and BuffaloHoya have a private wager going on, but irregardless, there's no room for that kind of thinking on game day.

I'm only saying what so many people are apparently thinking. We should be coming to this board today to get amped up and remember why we are Hoyas and why we hate the Orange and instead we're surrounded by people telling us to ratchet down our enthusiasm, that all that's important is doing our best and not expecting too much. Nearly a third of the guesses in the prediction thread are PRO-Syracuse for crying out loud!!! When one of the only good things going on the board right now is a plagiarized piece of Swedish propaganda reminding a bunch of socialists to pay their cable television tax, who are we and why are here? No offense is meant to the handful of folks (Boz, Giga, FF, et al.) that made an attempt to perk up the gang here, but I say again, I cannot remember a game versus Syracuse that has had this board so quiet, so why not just surrender pre-emptively? Is that wrong?

Fair enough, with your wacky reverse psychology mumbo jumbo. Out of my head, witch doctor!!!
;D
I, too, am astonished by how many people seem resigned. I wouldn't call it anywhere near a majority -- or even half -- but it's far too high a number.
Yes, we screwed the pooch a couple times this year. We've also blown away some of the best teams in the country. I see no reason to believe we can't take down the Orange.

I've said it before I'll say it again Georgetown fans are far too pessimistic and "realistic" ANY other fan base would still be crowing about how great they are an excusing away anything negative. Georgetown fans latch on to anything negative and dismiss the good.
Edited the Orange! We're Georgetown Damnit! We're awesome and we have a great team. We should be able to go into any game and think we're going to win. We can beat any team in the country. Most teams can't say that. But everytime we lace 'em up we have a great chance of winning the game.
