Dear Students,
If you are reading this, you are likely a die-hard fan and this will not pertain to you. However, please share these ideas with your fellow classmates.
As you know, tomorrow at 12pm, Georgetown will take on the #2 team in the country. As you also know, there will be 1-2 feet of snow on the ground by game time and there will likely be no operational buses in Georgetown - GUTS or MetroBus. Judging by the turnout on Wednesday night, there will be many students deterred from attending the game due to these conditions. The lower bowl HAS to be filled for this game - no excuses. Here are your three options for getting to the game:
1) Walk across the Key Bridge and take the Metro from Rosslyn to Metro Center. The Metro will only be running every 30 minutes, so leave plenty of time. I'm sure some of you will groan: "it's cold and it's a long walk." Suck it up - this is the #2 team in the country we're playing. It's a mile tops and you're an undergraduate in college - you don't get too many chances to do fun stuff like this. Don't try to transfer to the Red Line at Metro Center - that will take forever tomorrow. Again, suck it up and walk the extra 1000 feet from Metro Center to Verizon.
2) Walk to the Dupont Circle station and take the Metro from Dupont to Verizon. See option 1 if you want to complain about the cold and the distance. I walked Q St. from Dupont to Georgetown for the ODU game in the December storm and its very doable.
3) Take a cab. To me, this is BAD option. There will likely not be enough cabs running, roads will be closed, it might take up to an hour to get from Georgetown to Verizon AND the cabbie can charge you double for the snow emergency. Also, it may be very dangerous! However, I'm sure the die-hards have plenty of friends that will refuse options #1 and #2 - you can offer them this option but encourage them to leave plenty of time to find a cab and get to the game.
So to summarize: Get your butts out of the dorms by 9am. Walk to Dupont or Rosslyn and take the Metro. Fill the lower bowl student sections. No excuses.
Humbly,
HoyaNyr320
[ADDED] P.S. If mommy or daddy tells you that you shouldn't go, that's still not an excuse. No reason you have to tell them that you are going to the game. We're not talking about lightning or hurricane conditions here. As far as I can tell, it will be safe to be outside as long as you are not driving.
