Claims he has an offer from Georgetown though Scout doesn't have it listed: www.post-trib.com/sports/highschools/1675885,bkb-dawson-0721.highschool Dawson is fast becoming one of the most coveted juniors in the country. Rivals.com now ranks him the 26th-best prospect in the nation in the Class of 2011.
"He's on fire," said Renaldo Thomas, Dawson's coach last year at Lew Wallace. "He's just having an outstanding summer."
Dawson will weigh his most recent offers with those he has already received from IU, Purdue, Georgetown and Minnesota. 21st player in his class according to Scout and highly ranked by ESPN (where we're not listed with him)

I like this scout writeup of him "In our mind, he's the best offensive rebounder in his class. Dawson is a beast on the glass. Loves to play at the rim, has a body built for contact and sticks mid-range jumpers with ease. Will need to expand his game but it shouldn't be a problem as he's one of the elite talents in his class at the small forward position. National Top 25 caliber prospect"

Off the dome, I'm gonna guess Derrick Patterson. He was from Chicago.

This guy has no interest in leaving Indiana and will not be a Hoya.

He is Purdue's to lose. Really surprised the staff is spending time on this kid, but I guess you can't ignore him if he says you're in his top 10.

Listed offers from Purdue, Georgetown, UCLA and Marquette with interest from Xavier, Indiana and Minnesota. Most think he is Purdue's to lose, but Hoyas are certainly recruiting him.

Evan Daniels thinks it's between Purdue and Michigan State at this point. I will be absolutely stunned if Dawson doesn't end up at Purdue.

A Rivals update has him with Purdue and Indiana leading. He's still listing us.

A Rivals update has him with Purdue and Indiana leading. He's still listing us. Purdue has to be considered the leader--but I'm not buying the Indiana crap--think he's just saying this to make locals happy. I'd say Michigan State is up there as is Marquette. Hoyas are in this--and he continues to list us--but I think Georgetown has a far better chance with Sam Thompson in Midwest then him right now. Would love it if Dawson were more serious though.

Jerry Meyer's mailbag says Dawson has a top 2 of Indiana and Purdue with Purdue having the "unofficial edge".

Eric Bossi from Rivals had this to say of Dawson from the Nike event this weekend:
"It's hard not to like the intensity and toughness of Branden Dawson, however the more we watch the more it seems fair to ask if he's not just as much a power forward as he is a small forward. He put up big numbers playing outside of the lane during his junior season, but this spring all of his production has come from 12 feet and in. A big time athlete with a non-stop motor, he's got strong hands and is among the premier rebounders in the country regardless of class or position. "
Personally, I really hope the staff is not spending much time on this kid.

Telep article from NBPA says Dawson will wait until spring to sign and plans on visiting Purdue, Georgetown, Marquette and Michigan State. He also has UCLA, Arizona and Louisville on his list.
I still don't like our chances, and I'm not thrilled that he's waiting until the spring. Let's hope the coaching staff can get a commitment from somebody at his spot sooner than next spring, making Dawson more of a luxury guy if he comes in. Word from camps is that he's productive, but all his work is done 12 feet and in - that's tough for a 6'5" guy to do in college.
