For this point in the season, our numbers are starting to look exceptional: - 4 in the RPI
- 5 in Strength of Schedule, this before our Cuse-Duke two-step next week.
- 29 in Non-Conference SOS (again, this doesn't reflect Duke game).
- 6-2 in road/neutral court games
- 4-2 against RPI Top 50 teams, including more top 25 wins (4) than any other team in the country. (This is impressive, but what's even more impressive is that we're 7-2 against top 55 teams, needing Washington, St. John's and/or Harvard to win a couple and get over the hump).

Seriously I wasn the majority of the 2nd half played with a line up of Sims, Benimon, Hollis, Vee, and then rotate chris, austin, and jason through the last spot.

heres hoping to an early to give the bench some extended burn. would love to see hollis get a little confidence in his shot prior to su. An early lead with lots of playing time by the reserves would be important for more than just confidence: the trip up to Syracuse will be a pain, and we'll only have one day to practice/recuperate. If Hollis, Jerrelle, Henry & Vee (or even Stepka/Dougherty) can play well enough for the starters to be in the 25-30 minute range, I'd be very happy. I wouldn't mind a period or two of wholesale substitution if we were able to build a big enough lead. When we're at the Carrier Dome, I don't want a repeat of our first half against 'Nova after the Seton Hall win (2 second halves would be nice, though ). Of course, all of that depends on taking care of business on Saturday. I would watch out for Rosario when the subs are in. He'd likely try to take the opportunity to pad stats, but as long as we force him into low-percentage shots to do so, that would be OK with me; I'm confident that our starters will be able to do this, but the subs will have to be more effictive than usual in this area. Ndiaye is a block machine, so we have to aviod weak stuff inside. A number of other teams were able to limit his minutes with fouls, and I think we can do so, as well, though we'd have to be judicious about the kinds of contact we try to draw from him -- he's gotten a number of blocks from such attempts in the Rutgers games I've seen. Some of the stuff that works for Julian against others could get stuffed -- I'd like to see a bit of drive & dish by Chris if they're not collapsing to fill the lane (though I know this can bring out some of "bad Chris" if it gets the green light; still, "good Chris" far outweighed "bad Chris" against Pitt, and, unlike 'Nova, I don't think Rutgers has the guards to match him). Some drive/elevate/off the glass by Austin/Jason with weak-side rebounding available from our bigs as Ndiaye is drawn out for the block attempt would also be nice to see. However we do it, get 'er done!

Heard Chris on the radio today. His take: Rutgers has some good freshmen, Rosario can score and Ndiaye blocks a lot of shots. Sounds like JT III is getting the team prepared to take this one seriously.

True, no gimmes in the BiG East, but still ... I think the most important factors for this game are quality bench minutes/production, efficient offense, practicing inbound plays, and not making mental mistakes.

Guys we should win this game convincingly. This should be a game where Sims, and Hollis can sharpin there stills and not be under intense pressure, mental or physical. We are a very good team this year and should win all our home games and win the games on the road against inferior teams. No stress in this one hoyas by 12 but it will feel like 25...

The best way to insure that the reserves get considerable minutes is put them away early so let's not allow them to hang around with us in the first half. I am a little concerned that Rutgers was so embrassed the other night agaisnt NOVA and today's New Jersey's papers are reporting that the coach's job is definitely on the line that they may come out determined to give us a game.

From what i've heard most of the team has completely given up. They don't like their coach, so I don't think they have any incentive to try and save his job. Rutgers program might be more messed up than st. john's.

haven't lost to Rutgers since 2002-2003. Don't think this is the year to break that streak.

Probably although I don't think we've lost to DePaul in conference play and I think we had beaten them the last couple of times OOC as well. Rutgers basketball has a lot of records like this one, including the fact that they have never beaten UConn in their entire history

I expect a very off day (reversion to the mean performance) for the Hoyas on Saturday. 3s won't drop, and lots of turnovers. Will be a close, low scoring game with the Hoyas pulling out a 6-8 point victory in the last 3 minutes.

I agree with Bay. The starters could use some rest. They need to be fully energized for SUcks and the Dufies. Henry, Vee, and Hollis need some game time and some confidence. I put Jerelle with the others. He is contributing right now.

I don't think RU is good enough to be a trap game. SHU was a trap game before Nova and the guys responded. Should be fine.

Mark my words, tashoya, the Rutgers game will be a little closer than we would all like. I still think we win, so it won't turn out to be a "trap" game, but I'm sensing an underwhelming performance from the boys on Saturday. Just one man's opinion.
