The offense does not look much different to me. Trying to get the ball in the low post more and more up tempo which was needed anyway. Allowing players to go one on one is fine too but the allignment of two guards, forwards foul line extended and a post player is still there.

The only point I am making is that they complained that we use the PO and now they complain that we don't use the PO. It doesen't matter what we actually use - it is their perception of what we use.

He said he didn't like the system - he didn't say that the system was bad. Once again, best of luck to him at Wake.

Sounds like the only system Nikita didn't like was the rotation...

Nikita is right that the back door is not as frequent this year, but the floor is still spread. I think there has been more one on one driving this season because Monroe, Freeman, and Julian appear to be more confident driving to the hoop. This is a good thing

I do not wish him good luck. I hope he performs as poorly for Wake Forest as he did for us and that he sits on their bench like he deserved to at Georgetown. We gave him infinitely more run than he ever deserved.
I'm getting a little tired of these half-ass wanna-be DI basketball players taking their parting shots at the team, the coach, and the system just because they couldn't compete at the same level.

I don't think JTIII would give a plaer more minutes than he deserved. We had big problems last year, and Coach tried some different things to try to repair them. But it seems obvious that with the frshmen we brought in, Nikita knew his minutes would be way down, and wanted to go somewhere he could play. Better for him, and better for us not to have a discouraged player on the bench, and to have another scholarship.

I agree Frazier, but I also agree with Stummer.
Nothing wrong with these guys looking out for themselves and making a move that will benefit them. I would just love to see some honesty, rather than the old "blame-the-system" stuff. (And I am not asking for brutal honesty, like, "Well I just wasn't good enough to get some serious run over there, so I decided to make a move.")
Pretty similar chain of events for the recent transfers... - player decides to leave - most Hoya fans chalk it up to a number of factors, including lack of PT, but there is generally no bad feelings among the Hoya faithful - said transfer then starts talking, and the benefit of the doubt he has been given is quickly obliterated by his nonsensical comments complaining about "the system"

I also agree that he "deserved" the minutes last year in the sense that he was as good as anyone else on a team that grossly underperformed. But last year's team just didn't have "it" (whatever "it" is that makes the same group of guys awful one season and potentially brilliant the next). Anyway, when I say he got more run than he deserves, I mean that he has no business being the 6th or 7th man on a top 20 team. We just weren't a top 20 team last year. I hope that in the future, we always will be, and that guys like Nikita will deserve literally 0 minutes outside of garbage time.

Strummer I absolutley agree with you here. Nikita HAD to play last year, but was not going to give us much this year.

A player's contributions are not just the few minutes you observe them in a game. Every success you enjoy from this team has a lingering measure of Nikita's efforts in practice and team participation no matter how much that might irk you. From what I understand Nikita represented the University well during his time here. Performing well in the classroom, doing what JTII asked of him, and working hard despite what some may consider a limited skill set. I didn't see him him any police blotters, trash talking on the court, not taking his classes, nor slamming people's head against the court with his forearm.
It seems to me to be really poor form to disparage a former player and reflects more poorly of the character of those disparaging than the play of a former Hoya.

But I do wish they wold just leave it at "I felt that the new school was a better fit for me."

I agree about the parting shots. He should zip it or just say he left because he wasn't getting minutes.
However, from a more real life perspective, it's gotta be tough on the kid. He worked hard and it just wasn't enough to be a starter. I'm sure it's a big deal leaving the Hilltop and packing up the life you've grown accustomed to and moving on to another school where you don't know anyone and you're not sure you're going to get any PT at the new place either. I'm going to give Nikita a pass on the comments because I'm sure there's some bitterness there and wish the kid well as I really admired his hustle. That said, shut up Nikita! If he keeps running his mouth, he's gonna be JR part deux.

And, in Nikita's defense, it's much more difficult to see spacing when you're sitting down..... it messes with your perspective. ;D

I wish Nikita good luck.
As for blaming failures on an outside circumstance -- such as the system or bad luck -- versus internalizing them... well, that's documented human nature. Neither Nikita nor Jeremiah nor Vern are exempt, and I don't expect too many college kids to be that aware.
