If I really wanted to find out how the Hoyas played and wasn't able to watch the game, I knew the Times and Barker Davis would have the real deal. The difference between the coverage between the Post and Times is huge (with the exception of C. Powell who I think had some good insights). Good luck in the future Mr. Davis...and should you start a Hoya blog please know you'll have a ton of fans!

Giannicolus, that was great. Thanks for the link. Chris sounds like a coach (but funny).

Cool. Reminds me of what the coach of the Washington Capitals did days earlier at the end of the last game the WTimes beat reporters covered his team. Classy. Plus whenever III wanted something to "get out there" to the public it appears Barker was his go-to-guy. Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the great years, Barker! What little inside info ever came out of McDonough often came through him, and his articles were always insightful rather than just a poorly done regurgitation of cliche and AP wire stories, like so many sports articles today. Well put, SF. Barker was a breath of fresh air because he showed some enthusiasm about covering the team in any depth. The Post was a different story -- they never seemed to get over how JTII handled the media generally. Tony K., in particular, resented how Riley and Esherick would constantly be looking over his shoulder in the locker room. Didn't take them long to bury GU near the comics after Iverson left. Liz Clarke, while competent enough, is not on Barker's level.

"DaJuan won't miss me" was a classic final remark from Barker.

Barker was the best in covering the Hoyas by a mile. His moving on will leave an unfillable void. Best of luck , Barker and don't forget us. Hip-Hip Hooray for the greatest.
