Not only for his career high today but for 4 of 5 games now in double figures.
Last 5 games for JV: 11.6ppg 6.4rpg 2bpg 68% from the floor.
We will go nowhere without a true big to balance out the versatile Greg Monroe. Against Temple, let's just say our fears seemed to be playing out.
But then new life! Culminating in his 18-point effort today, Julian Vaughn has shown over the last few weeks he could in fact be the big body we need. But it's not just the offense, he's getting up and blocking shots too. Vaughn is 3 blocks away from matching his total for LAST SEASON.
Vaughn looks like a completely different player and we're much better for it. Go Hoyas!

he is a good player.
he had his moments last year as role player.
he has developed and will continue to do so.
Sims, on the other hand...i don't know. Did anybody see the assistant coach talking to Sims on the bench, pointing out things to him,and Sims had a blank look on his face staring into space?

Does the conference have a "most improved award"?
I know a certain player who is looking good for it

I didn't notice Simms looking blank but I did notice Nikita staring into space and seemingly paying little attention during timeout huddles. From a starter at times last year to not even getting off the bench in this game... he's really dropped off the face of the earth.

Henry seems to have that look on his face most of the time. I wouldn't give it much credence. He's made progress this season and I'd bet he didn't get much run today because Julian was so dominant.

JV feels to me like Don Reid with a better shot/fee or Turner without the need for JT II to intervene

I see/hope Henry taking Greg's role as the 4 next year... I see/hope Greg is perceptive enough to know that he's better off with a third year in college, and that Nate Lubick is the 4 as a sophomore. Greg could use some time to develop some range on his jumper for the next level. Don't see Greg becoming the 3 point threat that Jeff developed, but he'll need the 15-18 foot jumper in the NBA. Speaking of the NBA, and returning to the title of his thread, it's way premature to see Julian having the kind of pro career that Don Reid had, but it's not impossible that he could go to the next level after next year if he keeps improving the way he has last year to this.

Actually, Hollis got Sims' minutes. I gather that because Washington is a small team (Pondexter is their 4), III probably thought that Hollis was a better fit than Henry. Hollis played 25 minutes, Sims 2.

Great to see JV delivering in several phases of the game. Here's hoping he can sustain the positive contributions over the course of the rest of the season.
I do not, however, find the comments about Sims and Nikita of any value. Maybe a shrink like lic can figure it out, but jumping to conclusions about what appears to be the case from TV clips is too big a leap for me.
Henry saw virtually no time in this game, but he has had some good moments so far this season, blocking shots and crashing the boards. While I don't expect him to have a Vaughn type impact, I believe he will continue to develop over the course of the season. We have seen flashes.

Actually, Hollis and Julian were pretty much on their average minutes.
Hollis' minutes, in order: 15, 23, 20, 22, 23, 19, 25, 25
Julian's minutes, in order: 24, 23, 22, 21, 22, 23, 17, 24
Henry's minutes, in order: 12, 10, 11, 14, 15, 13, 12, 2
Henry's minutes went to Monroe (37), Wright (38), Freeman (35), and Clark (38), who each played a few minutes more than they usually do.

He entered the game 1 for 10 from the line (10%) and exited the game 5 for 14 (36%). Huge improvement. I had the sense after he was stripped a couple of times in the first half that he got mad. They may have thought he was a terrible free throw shooter given his stats and we going to hack and swats at him no matter what. He made them pay from the line going 4-4.

Yeah, it also reminded me of a look one Roy Hibbert used to have on the bench. It has nothing to do with his ability as a basketball player or if he was listening. I wouldnt be worried about it

I absolutely love what Julian is bringing this season, especially because it's a niche that seemingly only he can fill and he's filling it well. He was yesterday's MVP IMO.

don reid was a limited ofensive talent who put hard work in and succeeded in the NBA....I hope that JV does the same. On the other hand, John Turner was side tracked by Rayful Edmunds relatinship. ..he had potential though.
