Yeah, I know those shirts, but those were a joke. They were only given out to the front rows of the student section, last year they were all XL's and almost no one wore them. I'm talking about a basketball shirt that truly attempts to unify everyone with one single shirt. Well, in my day (crotchety old man voice) most people had them. But I'm talking almost ten years ago. People wore them, but there was not a concerted effort to wear only them, and to not cover up with an overshirt, jacket, etc. No sea of blue/white.

Yeah, I think we were in the same class, as I started in the Class '99 but ended up graduating in '00. You're right though, despite an abundance of these shirts, there was not an organized effort to make sure the student section wore them. Also, it makes sense for the shirts to be blue or grey, not white. Much praise goes to the guys here who made the shirts a reality, I just wanted to point out that they were not the first student shirts ever made, and that this was pre-Hoya Blue, so I imagine the whole bill was footed for by the school. Given that we had AI and were making much more money at the time, I'm sure the Hoop Club and/or Georgetown Athletics would have no problem paying for these shirts if we continue to get results on the court = more $$$$.
LET'S GO HOYAS!!! NIX NOTRE DAME!

Ordering student season tickets in '92 got you a gray shirt that said Hoya Hoops Club on one side (basketballs replaced the letter O in more than one iteration of the letter - possibly all of them) and a block G on the other side (it may have been diagonally split between blue and gray.)

i still have that beat up shirt, the next two years they gave out hats when you got your tickets, no reason they cant give out shirts again, i think the idea above about selling shirts to alumni at reunion weekend is good also the weekend of the Villano-fun game is alumni leadership weekend or something like that so a lot of active alums will be around and hopefully going to the game,
007, if you can order more shirts i bet you will be able to sell some that weekend to alums at a profit which could support your purchase of new shirts for next season.

007, we'll have to go to bat on this one because I am with you on it. I think the goal will be to start early (summer), get the design, and work out a pre-order system with McDonough. So, they'll be able to see the interest up front. Our end will be to contact as many alumni et al. as we can so we get as many pre-orders as possible. Right there, I think we could easily get 1000, and have enough money thereby to buy 3000 shirts based on that revenue alone. If we get intrauniversity contributions in one form or another, we'll be in even better shape. ___________________ Aaah, brings back memories. My senior year (89), my close friends and I made "Rejection Row" T-Shirts, paying for them entirely ourselves after being turned down left and right by the AD and HHC. We sold them on-campus, in the parking lot of home and away games, and through word of mouth (cost plus a very small mark-up). Would have loved the internet back then. Excuse the digression and walk down memory lane, but a quick note. The last 150 Rejection Row T-Shirts were confiscated by Meadowlands Police before the Duke/GU Elite 8 game. They told me I could retrieve them after the game, but when I went to the security office, the shirts mysteriously were gone. What a truly awful day.

Angus, Didn't Yates end up selling a knock-off version of the Rejection Row shirts? I believe I bought one (sorry ) that said "Just Swat It" with a hand print on it. It finally obliterated in the laundry after about 7 years. I tried to save it just to have, but finally it gave up the ghost. If I remember correctly, Rejection Row was on the opposite end of the floor from the band (where I was) at the Cap Center. And, I believe, a few of those guys were on my freshmen floor, Darnall 1.

2007,
Is your prototype still up on customink? If so, could people who want a shirt order one directly from the site? My running group at GU did a shirt that way and individual orders could be placed by setting up an account and a password. Anyone with the account # can order the shirt using their own credit card, so you wouldn't have to deal with individual transactions. It sounds like the prototype shirt was nice enough and very close to the "official" shirt.

They had the same black hand print on it as the originals we created. We were too busy, stupid or drunk to pursue intellectual property protection. But, frankly, it was not about that -- we were about total team support. Rejection Row was the first row behind the basket opposite the band side. In those days, student overflow seating was on that side of the Cap Center. In fact, the side was pretty full during most Big East games, allowing for a pretty effective Hoya Saxa.
