You know, at this point, you're just a broken record. Can we have a Hoyatalk corollary of Godwin's Law for references to Drudge? As long as we have one for copying talking points directly from Drudge sans attribution. Drudge actually used the word capitulate as well. I should note that this was the first time in recent memory that I made the Drudge point, and it was precisely for this reason - quote without attribution. I would not have made the point otherwise. In any event, I need not apologize for consistently voicing my views, just as the board's conservatives have done consistently and without apology.

We can negotiate with them one on one, 6 way talks, or 84 way talks. It won't matter one iota until China decides it is in their interest to make Korea follow through on anything. And right now I don't think China feels the need to do anything to help us here.
IMHO in reality the only thing that would force China's hand would be for Japan to make the decision that they need their own nuclear weapons to counter Korea. If that happens China comes to the table but that is a high risk strategy on all counts.
Personally I think that the decision to go one on one with Korea is a hail mary that will set Obama up for failure unless he has a solid agreement that the Chinese will force Korea to act if we negotiate face to face. I doubt he has that and if what he wants is the feel good hail mary so be it. I do find some humor in the fact that Bush was raked over the coals for not including allies in what he did - but in this case he did go the 6 party route which is now being dumped for a route excluding the allies.
I worry this is form over substance but he gets to make his own bed.
