Postgame:
I am walking out and encounter Jeff's Mom. I ask her, "Are you Jeff's Mom?"
She says, "Yes", with a HUGE glowing smile on her face.
I say, "Thank you!!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!!!", giving her a huge hug. She laughs and hugs back.
Hoya basketball. Share the love.

I think playing to the crowd is great. As long as its players trying to get their home crowd involved I think its great all the time. I just don't like it if its an opposing player taunting the home crowd.

Reading through the recap, I didn't see this mentioned, but I'm sorry if I'm duplicating something.
Can't remember if it was in the first half or second half, but I think it was Cook hit a layup and was called for a charge. They counted the basket but then gave him a foul. I've never seen this happen before. Was it because he hit the guy after he let go of the ball? Can anyone explain that call?

Never saw a replay, but I remember the call, and I think that's what happened. Ashanti may have landed and then crashed into somebody (that's the only explanation I can think of). I do remember that the coaches on both benches were pretty Editeded about the call.

If a player has completed his shooting motion with the ball completely out of his hands and then commits a foul you can have both a basket and a charge. That said, you don't see that call very often anymore. It was much more common 25 years ago.

agree with hoyachris thats the call but in most cases they really dont call it because i think the offensive player has the rght to come down so its unusual now a days to call the offensive after thebasket unless like the player purposefully like socks or elbows the guy go hoyas beat nd

Looking at the rest of WVU schedule, they could conceivably win out, or at least go 4-1 making them 18-9 on the year going into the big east tourney. Im not saying this because I think we have to worry about them, but rather because our win could end up looking pretty good over them. They have beaten some good teams this year and so I hope they do well to finish out the season. It will look better for us come tournament selection time.

Stranger call i saw this year(i forget which game): A player made the shot and three was a defensive foul after the shot so the shot counted and the team got the ball.

And the less said about the awful awful couch the better. Best thing you DID do with SFOG, CA, was decline the chance to sit in that stupid space waster. Actually, I don't know what you were looking at, but I actually did sit, or rather, stand in front of, the stupid time waster during the game.

Actually, I don't know what you were looking at, but I actually did sit, or rather, stand in front of, the stupid time waster during the game. Which of course makes you question...if you were standing in front of it...who IS sitting in that thing during games? You're right--I have trouble seeing into that corner because I sit three rows up from it and on the complete opposite side of the row (the couch is by the opponent's bench, I'm by the band). It would be hard to see with all the students standing who is sitting down in the couch if that's what they do, although I imagine a fair number of SFOG would stand. I have seen people sitting in the couch who I know not to have been SFOG's, and I'm wondering who decides who gets the OTHER cushion, or in the case of two days ago, the whole cursed thing? It seems mighty fishy. On a completely unrelated note, people have pointed out several things I overlooked in the recap, including Cook's charging foul, Roy/Ashanti's playing to the crowd, etc. One that hasn't come up yet was the saga of the game ball at the end of the game. At the buzzer, a WVU player put up a long-distance prayer that missed the backboard and bounced into the front row of the student section, into the arms of a student who had made his way down to stand in the aisle at the end of the game. He actually got pretty far with it, almost to the concrete staircase in the middle of the student section, before I lost him in a crowd. I don't think he got past there, as he hit a crowd of people and there was finally someone from MCI pursuing him. I'm curious if he got any farther.

Stranger call i saw this year(i forget which game): A player made the shot and three was a defensive foul after the shot so the shot counted and the team got the ball. I've never actually seen this but the NCAA rules allow for a player to be fouled in the act of shooting as he commits a charge on another player. Ruled a double foul. If he got hacked, then released the ball (and therefore completed the "act" of shooting), and then ran into another opponent you could have a hack, a counted basket, and a charge all on the same play.

Also I don't think it was mentioned that Brandon was honored right before the game at center court for scoring his 1000th point. Congrats again BB!
