Nothing on this forum about the OT travesty? Nothing!? I'm no Favre fan, but nor am I a detractor, and I was pretty much a neutral watching the game last night. The Vikings did everything they could to lose it during regulation, but they still made it to OT. Fumbles didn't lose the game. INTs didn't lose the game. What lost the game were three consecutive game-changing calls by the refs. I have never once seen a game so clearly stolen by the officials. Pass interference!! That pass was ten yards out of reach!! Diving for a first down!??!! Since when has forward progress been given on a bobbled ball??? A catch to get into FG range??!!?? That ball BOUNCED on the ground!! What a load of crap. For a neutral, that was a fun game to watch, right up until it was taken out of the players' hands.

And fumbles from Harvin and Berrian? The Vikes had about 5 chances to win and they used them all up in regulation. The front page of the dead tree version of the Fargo Forum has a cartoon of Lucy in Saints garb, pulling out the football from a flipping Charlie Brown (in purple in gold.) Not quite right. Lucy should have been wearing purple and gold, too.

The first down and the catch were borderline calls, but there certainly wasn't enough evidence either way on the replay to overturn the call on the field. Like I said in my earlier post when I was needling the Vikes fans, the pass interference call was total BS.

Give me a friggin BREAK about officiating in OT. You sound like Favre's boyfriend Peter King who is so distraught in today's MMQB he:
1. Complained about OT rules in NFL 2. Complained about the "illegal hits" Brett was taking 3. Whined about the Pass interference call--which was a good call-because the ball landed in play--and would've been in disatance Thomas could've attempted a play on ball 4. Defended the roughing the passer call that Hargrove was called for--which was textbook tackle-you can't hit a QB too high/too low but you can't lift and form tackle now either.
EXPLETIVE Peter King aka Favre's boyfriend. He's a JOKE. The way he slurps Favre and Bill Parcells is a travesty to reporting. King also told Favre he was hit "illegally"--on the high-low hit--but didn't mention McCray getting shoved by the OT in back who couldn't block worth a damn. Go drink a latte you fat Ben Savage hair cut wearing piece of excrement.
Vikings got majority of calls in regulation, they had the game in their hands and GAVE IT AWAY--several times. 1 call in OT-set up a FG chance--the Saints actually gave Hartley--unlike Favre aka "America's Hillbilly King" who decided to make a throw a good QB in backyard FB doesn't make. But he's just such a "warrior/gunslinger....." yeah right.
BTW---Chilly brings in the guy who sings "Pants on the Ground" prior to a game to "sing" for the team.
Sean Payton brings in Jimmy Johnson and Ronnie Lott and Al Viking-jazeera thought Saints were too uptight. UNREAL.
Sounds like Aikman just about had enough of the Favre-love affair during 4th quarter--and knowing NFL and their propoganda--this could cost him his job--well that or the fact he's asking for NFL to not have players wear helmets as a way to AVOID head injuries.
Brett will be back--fear not Viking fans--he can't go out like this-----and he'll irritate everyone else in country--but at least Packers will get to kick his ass all next year--as they've already proven their decision was correct, as did the Jets.

Did you just figure out he's a sycophant w/ no value or do you just like to use him as a straw man?

Nah, I have a feeling that this is his last year for sure. The Vikings won't be gifted only one cold-weather game once again -- and god knows he's too much of a ***** to go outside and play real football.

12 men in the huddle? At such a crucial time in such a big game? Gotta rank up there among the worst.
I also had no major stake in the game but was rooting for the Saints. Given the closeness of the game, I have to say it really wasn't that exciting -- way too many stoppages in play, play reviews, etc. to make it a truly exciting game.
Milkshakes all around.

Next year's schedule has the NFC North playing the entire NFC East and AFC East, which means Dallas, NYG, Philly, NYJ and New England are all on the schedule. If he comes back, he'll definitely be outside more.

The Favre interception doesn't even make my Top 5 (or maybe Top 10) worst Vikings plays. The fumbles were inexcusable and Chilly's decision to treat a 51 yard field goal on the road under extreme pressure as a sure thing were much worse to me. I don't have a problem if they spread it out and ran there. But they lined up like they were going for it on 4th and 1 and there was no room to run. Then the 12 men in the huddle penalty was mind-blowing.
I've seen Brett Farve make some truly insane decisions, but this wasn't one of them. The first receiver was covered on the sideline and there was a safety ready to drill him if he tried to run. They were out of field goal range and an incompletion would have meant the same outcome. Sure, in hindsight it is better to try to get two or three yards running and try a very long field goal. But that is not one of those crazy Farve decisions from the past.

he could have easily got the 5 yards back that they lost on the penalty. he did exactly what everyone thought he would do.....make a bonehead play when it mattered most.

I'm just so damn disappointed that we can't have an entire super Bowl filled with Deanna's cow-eyed gazes upon Captain Redneck.

The last play isn't that clear at all. He throws it from just behind the 41. There was a safety and a linebacker spying him from just past the 31 and another rusher coming in from the side. Maybe he gets to the 35, but I don't think he'd have done very well in a foot race. Would have been the better move, but let's not make it seem like it was an easy play. And there were far, far worse plays by the Vikings all day.

Part of what made the decision difficult for Favre was because, in his own words, "I don’t know how many yards we needed for a field goal, but I knew we needed some." ESPN is never going to blast Favre for anything, but Brett -- you really didn't know how many yards you needed? This doesn't seem like something you should know going into a play when a field goal sends you to the Super Bowl?
And Hoya95, it was a dumb, dumb play. One of the cardinal rules of quarterbacking is that you do not throw late and over the middle for EXACTLY that reason.

Exactly how many yards did they need? 3? 5? 9? You act like there's a definite answer.

Again--if Tavaris Jackson makes the type of throw Favre did--or Romo, or any other QB NOT named Brady, Manning, or Favre in today's NFL--they are put on BLAST and are EATING **** for being a dumb player.
TBird, I wanted to see how the Boyfriend would deal with the pain and more importantly to read if he'd pump the "Brett is done..." crap--which he did--not to mention on the postgame up here they were constantly referring to "Peter King was telling Brett he was illegally hit...." so had to read the drivel and see just how sickening it was--and it didn't disappoint.
Favre is PROTECTED far too often. I think the reason most Viking fans aren't going off on any of us that despise the country bumpkin is they have seen his ACT far too much and know he's just an ego-centric jerkoff who thinks NFL can't live without him and hides behind others as reason he has to "play". He's talking of letting down his Daughter now--who was the one who "pushed me to play again this year". Really Bumpkin Boy? Wasn't that $25 million 2 year deal they offered? He's got 13 million reasons to suit up and a fanbase who worships him--but won't next year when those crappy throws like the one he made against 49ers will be CAUGHT for game clinching INTS instead of dropped. Think of that Dre Bly drop-if that is picked/returned for TD as it would've been--this Favre story is completely different--but it didn't and the "legend" grew--and he tried to prove Ted Thompson wrong when all he did was reinforce what others have said--and GB and Jets are far better off then Vikings right now when it comes to the future of the QB position--and both made playoffs without Favre and both had QB's who played as well if not superior to him in the postseason.
The guy truly is one of the phoniest SOB's to play the game. That ACT he put on after the Favre-ian throw into triple coverage is why I despise him with a level of hatred that approaches Cuse/UConn/Pitt. If he's going to limp around only after bad plays--then it's an ACT. If you are going to have it shoved down your throat of how tough/unselfish he is--then I want to know why he doesn't dive after fumbles, try to block someone when they are looking him eye to eye, and most of all--when he sucks--why the EXCUSES?? All of us screw up and make mistakes-the difference we own up to them and take our medicine--this jerkoff just runs/hides and lets others make excuses for him. He was created by John Madden and it took off from there.
This "tough guy" CRAP is insane. It's a privilege to play in NFL and it's also not a place a 40 year old man should be--but if he is--then SAME RULES apply--and the same hit Mark Sanchez took against Colts that was NOT called, Favre got. I don't see Pete Morelli or any other officials helping up the majority of QB's in the league and why he needs his pads fixed for him is sickening. It's a violent game--except for guys like him and Brady, etc...and it sucks. Brees got driven in the ground by Ray Edwards and there was no call--but Favre gets call against Hargrove. It's FOOTBALL and if he doesn't want to get hit-stay at home with his wife and kids and watch like rest of us.

Sorry, can't go with you there. I have a whole lot less of a problem with a guy trying to make a play to get you back into field goal range after some ridiculous play-calling and an unforgiveable penalty knocked you out of it. And the careless fumbles were much worse.
