he has to step his play up if we want to stay hot. i thought he was horrible today, other than a couple nice passes. missing badly on wide open 3's and some bad turnovers. if he can't knock down the open 3, he isn't much good on the floor.

I hope he can shoot his way out -- lately he's looked like a frosh, meaning that his shot went off a bit and now he's thinking about it too much -- passing up open ones, not pulling the trigger quickly, etc. That's a big problem when you ask a freshman to run the show practically every year like we've done. Hopefully we'll have a bit more stability in personnel (the guys actually seeing significant minutes on the court) so this won't be as much of a problem in the future. JW's form is so nice, I can't believe he won't have a few more big games for us before it's all said and done this season.

have to disagree with you on that one - YES, he did miss a couple of WIDE OPEN threes today, but he also did a phenomenal job on pushing the ball and finding the open man - we have enough scorers on this team that as long as jonathan can minimize mistakes and hit his open 3s, i want him on the floor...my only suggestion is for his to not be so hesitant on the 10-15ft jumpers - he had several opportunities to pull up open right around the paint and he didn't --> i would rather have him out there than ray reed - sure ray had that steal and layup/dunk, but i still smear my shorts every time he has the ball...
I was ready to crucify DJ for missing open shots, until he hit that HUGE 3 from the top of the key...

Wallace tied a career high with 6 assists in today's action.

i was very happy with most of his play but he has GOT to knock down the open 3s. He's been doing it most of the year so he has the ability. I thought that he would come into this game after a week in which he could find his shot again but apparently I was wrong. It is crucial that he finds his shot by the time the BET starts. Though while his 3 shooting has been dropping, his passing and knowledge of the offense has greatly improved.

He contributes in other ways and will be a great floor general. Man, I can't believe we got this guy for free! And for the love of all that is holy, this guy is a freshman. Cut him some slack!

Yeah, no doubt. Would have been nice if he had hit a couple of those wide open threes. But I'm not going to bawl the guy out. He distributed the ball well today and is a freshman with considerable upside.

What Wallace gives us does not show up in the box score. A lot of our players, are doing little things to help our team win that don't show up in the box score. Its like Taliek Brown from UCONN. He was maligned for his whole career because he didn't score like he did in high school. But now that he is gone, you can see what he gave UCONN in dribble penetration, running the offense, etc. something they lack this year. So, yes, Wallace is not lighting it up in the box score, but he is doing things to help are team win. I'd rather have that then a stat-stuffer who doesn't do anything in crunch time.

wallace didn't do anything in crunch time. he played a horrible game. the assists were a product of lobs off the 1-3-1 and green's great hands. he HAS to knock down an open look or two. he was wide open on every three and wasn't close once. the only time he drove to the hoop he scored, but he didn't do it again.

So if he made the open shots and threw horrible passes then you would have applauded his efforts. Please, give me a break. You can have the best hands in the world, but if you can't pass, the best hands can't catch it. Give the man credit for something. I swear, people are so nitpicky on this board.

I heard from a source that Wallace has been under the weather recently and had a slight foot injury. This could be and prob is contributing to his hesitant play and hitting the wall.

Interesting... can anyone confirm? anyways very happy with his play. Just annoys me that he's lost his stroke. Predcition: He gets it back in one of the next 2 games.

I saw Wallace with a noticeable limp in the cafeteria a couple weeks ago around the time of the BC game. Maybe it's still affecting him, but I'm not too worried. He's been down a notch lately, but he hasn't been playing horribly. I have a feeling he'll be able to turn it on again down the stretch.

STOP with the Wallace bashing. We are 8-3. We've won three big east games in a row. He had 6 assists against WV.
So maybe he's a little hesitant pulling the trigger right now.
HE'S A FRESHMAN WALK-ON
I'm liable to come over to your houses and punch you all in the face. This kind of criticism has to stop.

i think the only one who bashed himm was hoyafanny. Others are simply observing his play(how well he runs the floor and how he isnt shooting as well as before) and curious about the possible injury. The only one who needs to be punched is kavin pittsnogle for being so ugly

Love the enthusiasm and willingness to go to the mat for our players, aussie.

The thought of someone going door-to-door, asking people "Did you diss Jonathan Wallace?" and then punching those who did just cracks me up. Love the enthusiasm and willingness to go to the mat for our players, aussie. Very Jay & Silent Bob-esque. But don't laugh. He's Australian. He'll do it. (On the other hand, you could confuse him with a good game of knifey-spooney). I never like criticisms of players in a public forum, but I'm one of the guys who refused to give up on Esherick, so what do I know? As long as its focused on gameplay, and looking for ways to improve, that's good discussion. Comments along the lines of, "I get sick when [insert name here] takes the floor" are out of bounds, if you ask me. Oh. No one did.
