Yeah, he doesn't sound like Ben Howland's type of player.
Attend St. John's, Lance.

i would usually say that it would be stupid for us to think that we know where a kid should go, but in this case it is pretty clear that St. John's (on the outside) is the best for Lance. Anywhere but UMD though for the love of god

interesting read. i have been hearing about the UA speculation as soon as Lance visited Maryland. it will be interesting to see what he does. alot of factors will come into play when he makes his decision.

Is there a timetable for a decision? How many more OVs is he taking?

Funny quote from his dad: "To be honest with you, we really don't care for the sneaker. The sneaker sucks."

Had no idea why UMCP even wound up on his radar screen. Makes total sense now.
Yeah, 'the sneaker sucks' was priceless. Hope to see UA sign him and try to figure out a way to finesse that quote...

The best part of that story is reading the comments. They're about 90% from Twerp fans and 80% of those posts are "Do a story on JT2 and Nike. Georgetown sucks." Real original.

Anybody remember Felipe Lopez? I think he was the last #1 prospect to play at St. John's.
Lopez gave them a nice boost but it didn't last -- the same will be true of Stephenson unless the higher-ups at SJU stop treating the basketball program like a traveling squad of 8th graders.
If he's one and done and has shoe-related aspirations, being in the largest media market in the country should appeal to him more than Lawrence KS or wherever Wake Forest is.
All said, SJU really is a logical choice (sorry, Wagner).

No one has ever come into college hoops with the hype that Felipe did. He was really good, got drafted, played in the league for a minute, but there was no way he could've lived up to it.

People always view Lopez as a bust, but the dude was a 2,000 point scorer and a pretty good player. No, he wasn't Michael Jordan, but he was far from a bust.

I agree. He had more than a cup of coffee. Was he the first domincan born cat to catch wreck in the league?

If anything he was undermined by SJU's second rate operation (Exhibit A --Mahoney, Jarvis, Fraschilla, some guy whose name I've forgotten (I think he was the one where the players bought hookers on road trips) and Roberts, all in the span of about five years.
