SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --Here's the latest on Lance Stephenson, who just scored 24 points in a 67-54 loss to DeMarcus Cousins and LeFlore (Ala.) at the Hoophall Classic.
The 6-5 Stephenson said he would like to visit four schools: USC, St. John's, Kansas and Memphis. He has taken an unofficial to St. John's and watched the Johnnies play UConn last week at Madison Square Garden.
Stephenson also said three other schools were trying to get involved: Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and Georgetown.
"I'm worrying about these [first four] schools right now and I'm still looking at it," he said.
He also said he's taken the SAT and is fully qualified.
"I'm qualified," he said.
Stephenson said he would visit the schools in the spring and then talk it over.
"There's going to be a family talk," he said.

would be nice to get him, but doubt it happens and not sure he'd be willing to subscribe to our offense due to his desire to go pro quickly. on the other hand, if he wants a great college experience and a place where he can really grow as a player he would come here out of those that he lists.

i know a number of people on here wouldnt want him to be a hoya (and who knows if the staff wants him to be a hoya) because he wants to go pro right away, but for next year- he is a guy who can push you over the edge, IF he keeps his attitude in check.

I'm by no means a Hoya expert but my take on it is that if Stephenson were to hypothetically commit to Georgetown (which I can't really see because of the type of player he is and attitude he sometimes has) then Monroe would have huge incentive to come back.

While it would appear to be a long shot..
I don't see why he couldn't fit...Lance can excel in a team game, he's a very good passer and can defend.
As far as his attitude....I'm really not sure, but I think more of made of it than there actually is to it.

Or it could mean -- hypothetically -- that JT III recruited him because he thinks Monroe is definitely going to jump. Could go either way.

Didn't he participate in the U-18 World Championships with Team USA? If so, there has to be some familiarity between JT3 and Lance.

Since Lance is a SG/SF and Monroe is a PF/C I don't think Monroe's situation has anything to do with the possibility of recruiting Lance. Now DaJuan on the other hand...

I believe so but did I remember hearing he got cut from the final roster? could be completely off......i also thought i heard that his interest in us/our interest in him cooled considerably after this....again i could be remembering this totally wrong

Lance got along well with III at the Tryouts--he didn't like the Davidson coach and didn't get along with the Duke guys--so he was sent home.
The schools in on Lance are a bit sketchy--but if Hoyas are interested--I believe they can get involved. Don't know how interested they are--but wanting him to visit is a pretty good sign to me, just have to see how it goes.

I know nothing about the recruiting process RDF - but if as you say the schools in on him are sketchy could him listing Gtown as a school raise his profile in any way? Not trying to pat ourselves on the back but I would assume that if JT3 is interested in a guy (especially since he coached him in the try-out phase of the Worlds) wouldn't that send a signal to others that Lance is coachable/team oriented and that the bad rap he gets is all garbage? Could a recruit leverage supposed interest from a school that way? He has repeatedly hinted that he is a one and done type guy and I wonder if he even wants to put in the work of getting to know our system or if the coaching staff wants to waste their time trying to teach it to him...

I also heard that a kid named Monroe was lazy and unmotivated.
I've seen Lance play, and he's a stud talent. If JTIII wants him, I do too.

he is definately a top talent. because i hadnt heard much from him in the past six months, i thought he might be considering the brandon jennings route, but i guess not. I love his game and would be so pumped if he came to gtown.

I've seen Lance play too and would agree with you, and the rest of America, about his talent - that said I don't see your point about his bad rap and Monroe's... Lazy and Unmotivated was something that (if true) could have put a cap on Monroe's potential and pehaps disappointed his team - inability to play in a team setting and a prima-donna type attitude is (if true) something which could have a much more profound effect on the whole team.
Like you I feel that if JT3 wants him then I am extatic and hope with all my heart he gets him and I get to watch him play for as long as he stays on the hilltop - question I had was whether we in fact want him or whether he is saying we want him to somehow improve his image as a team first type guy...

I think he is just tossing gtowns name out there. He definitely is a risky prospect for the hoyas team. Not sure that with his goal being to go to the league as soon as possible that he would be wiling t avg 13 ppg next season. PLus have see his attitude flare out of control at times.
