What a good start for Dr. Porterfield -- recognizing student athletes and detailing priorities.
It's fantastic to have this kind of communication.

I was very impressed when this showed up in my inbox this morning. I was surprised to see this coming from the AD, but I'm not really surprised to see it from Dr. Porterfield. I'm still not sure that this is the best job for his talents, but he is clearly giving it everything he has, just like he's done with everything at our University. I really hope that he gets DeGioia's job someday.

Reaching out to alumni for real advice has not happened for 4 years. Well done Dr P. I was also impressed with the letter and hope he can make some significant changes while in the interum position.

For those of you who haven't had the good fortune of working closely with Dan, I think you will quickly find that informative, articulate communication is the norm, rather than the exception.
Personal anecdote: Dan wrote my business school recommendations and the head of admission at University of Chicago called to ask who Dan Porterfield was, because it was one of the best letters of recommendation they had ever read.
From personal experience, I am confident that Dan will do a great job, however long he holds this post for.
