Why is a peaceful objection on life issues ignorant and small?

Why is a peaceful objection on life issues ignorant and small? I have no problem with peaceful objections. I just don't like gaggles of teenagers and 20 year-olds gathering in public places, holding signs, chanting, etc....especially when it is readily apparent that nothing they say or do will change anything. It's like the Free Tibet table that sits in Red Square like a shining beacon to how worthless student demonstrations are.

Yup. Statements like this put gaggles of teenagers and 20 year-olds gathering in public places, holding signs, chanting, etc. to shame.

I think that this happened with a Chinese visit to the White House during 43 - people were protesting outside and one of the members of the Chinese delegation kept on trying to use the curtains. Rice refused. Hee hee hee.

Based on everything I know about President DeGioia, some of which comes from my own interactions with him, I don't like him. I'm not protesting in front of his office. But in terms of how he runs the University and how he presents himself in public, I don't like him. How is posting this on a message board about the University the same as yelling pro-life slogans in the general direction the President of the United States before and after his speech on the economy?

You must be right. Narcissism: 1: egoism; egocentrism; 2: love of or sexual desire for one's own body Sanctimonious: hypocritically pious or devout OK, it's official. You've lost me. (I'll admit to self-indulgence: excessive or unrestrained gratification of one's own appetites, desires, or whims. What else is addiction to a message board for?)

so that woman that they talk to in that blue parka, the old one- she was standing all alone in this little gated area yelling at students walking by- it was a hilarious site. fun was had by all. I also like that the Hoyas For Choice people's main argument was that the other protesters didnt go to Georgetown so that is why they were wrong. It also seemed a little redundant to "make sure people did think that the pro life people represented gtown" when the Pro life people were bashing gtown- it was kind of self evident who they supported and who they didnt. anyway fun day for democracy!

1) shouldn't they have not been allowed to protest there? Isn't red square the only free speech zone and on campus, and isn't that only for student groups, which clearly a lot of these people weren't.
2) Do you really think you're going to get people on your side by yelling at people and calling them whores and baby killers. I'm pro life and I hate the prolife movement because people like this only hurt the pro life cause.

I think the pro life protest was a great thing for the campus community
At a time when everything seems to be falling apart into greater divisions and factions, students got a chance to sit back and mutter to themselves "holy , that's what real protesters are like?"
Remember, its one thing to write "The Hoya is Racist" in chalk in Red Square, its a whole 'nother level to transform a pickup truck into a crazy "Shame on Georgetown" mobile with less than 24 hours notice.

In a separate case at Penn State (which is possibly different because it's state-funded), a separate case was decided where it was noted that the entire United States of America is a "free speech zone".

1) for a while they were in and around the gates 2) why is the area where we own all the buildings not our property, I guess the government owns the first foot off the street, but I'm sure they were beyond that one foot too. 3) I know students would get in trouble if they started a protest in the middle of healy circle for example and not in red square.
