I know, of course, that most of us would like them to flame out. I'm just wondering if they won't be so burned out from their efforts this week that they have nothing left next week. I wonder the same thing about USC, which, as much as I hate to say it, played with tremendous intensity against UCLA yesterday, and came from 15 down at the half today to beat ASU.

The sooner they lose, the better.

The BE tournament run may jump them to a 3 seed in the opposite half of the regional bracket as a Big East #1 seed. The Sunday Post bracket projection had Syracuse vs. Binghamton in a 3-14 game. Another probable 14 seed is American.

Oh how sweet it would be to see Binghamton and Broadus take down Syracuse.

This could be eerily similar to 2005, when they beat us and went on to win the BET, only to lose i nthe first round. they played a lot of BB in the past week. It will catch up to them on thurs-Fri.

They will go out in the second round. cant play that much basketball against such high competition for that long. they might not have been feeling it physically last night (though they def were mentally) but once the adrenaline wears off and their bodies start to repair (probably mon or tues) they will be feeling it big time, especially flynn.
Im rooting for Nova in the tourny, or any mid major (that doesnt include gonzaga or memphis). I want AU to turn and upset in the first round. If they do that i will be happy.

Syracuse will lose in the first round. Flynn will declare for the draft because he doesn't get enough playing time in the course of a 40-min game. Devo will declare for the draft because he has mouths to feed and legal bills to pay. Onuaku and Rick Jackson will transfer because they don't get the respect that they do [not] deserve. Andy Rautins will lose visa status in the US and have to go back to Canada. Jimmy B will see his world crumbling down and will resign as head coach, effective immediately.
This is what every Hoya should HOPE happens to Syracuse.

There is certainly mental fatigue when called upon to play multiple pressure games in a short period of time, but to think that Syracuse will be physically tired when they play either next Thursday or Friday is a stretch. These are 20-22 year old athletes that have been playing hoops most of their lives and give at least as much physical effort in practice and on the playground. With 4-5 days off and TV timeouts, the tournament itself will be a break.

If I start a "How will Maryland do in the Dance?" thread, I'll have two reasons to be irritated when I pull up Hoya Talk.

Syracuse wasn't exactly the most consistent team in the world during the Big East season...so there's always a chance they have the bad game next Thurs/Fri.
But I think a couple things make it more likely they'll avoid the fate of 2006:
1. They're going to be a better seed than #5 IMO. In 2006 they ended up in a 5-12 game against Acie Law's Texas A&M team...Law outscored Gerry McNamara 23-2 in that game.
2. Speaking of McNamara...as hundreds of repetitions of BET highlights since have told us, Cuse rode the clutch heroics of one Gerry McNamara to that 2006 title. In 2009, they rode Jonny Flynn. For me, Flynn >>>>>>>>>>> McNamara. Besides, Andy Rautins is a reasonable facsimile of what McNamara could do...but the 2006 didn't have anything like the electric talent of Flynn, who can get into the lane at will and sets his teammates up (notice how well Devo played in the BET because of Flynn).
It all depends on matchups, of course, but I think at minimum they're playing on the first weekend...and doubt fatigue will catch up to them.

McNamara was also hurt in their first round game in 2006 and considered not even playing. I don't like to think a Cuse player ever played through pain, but he was clearly not himself.

They will probably do just fine, they have 3 guards that can shoot the 3 and flat out play. Exactly what you need come tourney time.. If they continue to be hot then eleite 8 appreaance is not out of the question..
Side note UCONN is picked off in the second round. Ive been saying it all season

it's satisfying to have beaten the champ. it's got to be mem, , or AU; cats dont have the stuff, cuse will fold; uconn can be beat, don't we know.
