Among the teams seeded 1, 2 or 3 in their NCAA brackets, there were a total of 66 losses.
The teams with the most number of wins against that group were:
5 wins - Louisville 4 wins - GEORGETOWN 3 wins - Pitt, UConn, Nova, Syracuse, North Carolina 2 wins - Providence, West Va., BC, Wake, Xavier, Missouri, Kansas, Maryland, Texas. 1 win - 24 teams
Of the teams with multiple wins, all but Providence and the Hoyas will be playing in the tournament.
I will now return to my regularly scheduled suicide.

Great stat. When I saw the seedings my first thought was, great, we beat 1 one-seed, 1 two-seed, and 2 three-seeds, and we weren't even remotely close to making the tournament. Oh, the what-ifs. Depressing...

By my quick count, we went 6-8 against teams in the tournament. That's a pretty good number, if we beat SJU twice I think we're dancing. Oh well, could've, would've, should've. Let's win the NIT instead.

But those two games aren't among them. Our team should be able to coach themselves to a win over St. John's. The players lost those games by having quit on the season, not the coach. Those ones are on THEM.

With the other bubble teams self destructing we could have locked outselves into an Ncaa bid and had a 15 point lead with 10 minutes left. There a big difference between choking, which is what we did all season, and giving up. The second game, well we are just flat out bad right now.

I've never seen a less inspired 90 minutes of Georgetown basketball than the last 90. If that's not quitting on the season, I'm not sure what it looks like.

Like I said, big difference between choking and quitting. But those last 10 minutes of St Johns game, no reason to believe they quit. They still had a real good chance at an NCaa bid, they just choked it away once they realized what they could lose. Depaul game and second St Johns game you maybe right, but I personally just think we are that bad right now.

I thought his quotes were really clueless and arrogant...
"blip"
"we'll fix this. It's what we do."
Yeah, whatever. Still have faith in the guy, but it was sorely shaken by that pathetic run...

You're telling me that Chris Wright, Jessie Sapp, DaJuan Summers and Greg Monroe playing their hearts out don't have enough talent to beat SJU 10x out of 10 no matter WHAT their coach is telling them? I guess we just disagree, I think this team quit to some extent during the Seton Hall game and totally quit when they realized that they couldn't even run right over St. John's.

They definitely had quit for the second St. John's game. The first one they just choked.

Like I said you could very well be right about the last game against St Johns, but definitly not the first. Look your heart can be in it 110% and it won't matter if your brain is scared, which is what happens everytime with this team. I mean they were up 15 with 10 minutes left against St Johns, its not like it was a close game, we easily could have pulled away. We just aren't that good. It was just their MO this season. I doubt their hearts weren't in it against Marquette when it was tied with 5 minutes left. Or against Syracuse in overtime. Or the ten other examples of this team just shutting down for ten minutes. The problem was mental this season, not physical or effort.

it was more the "blip" comment than the other one.
and it wasn't the "fix it" part - it was the "it's what we do". Of course, it's what you do - or what you're supposed to do - that's like the plumber coming over to fix your clogged toilet and announcing that it's "what I do". No crap it's what you do - don't tell us, JUST DO IT.
anyway, if it didn't bother you, that's fine. Just rubbed me the wrong way. Like I said, I'm still a III guy, just really disappointed by the job he did this year.
