Here, here. Props to the players, coaches, fans (who gave it all they had last night), and RDF. Despite (perhaps due in part to?) the last six weeks, I love this program as much as ever and am still hoping to get to NYC to cheer on our team. Hoya Saxa.

Those of us who cried as kids when Fred Brown "thought he saw Smitty" back in '82, who raged when Patrick didn't get a single call to get him to the FT line against Villacoca in '85, and who cursed every Ohio license plate they passed on that long, lonely drive back from Atlanta on a Sunday back in '07, we know well about frustration.
It takes guts to apologize, and brains to put things in perspective. You showed both with your post.

Great post. As I was watching the game last night, there were a few times when I wanted to tell the guys to relax and have fun. The effort was there, but boy did they seem tight.
For the rest of the season, the team's motto should be: Work hard! Have Fun! And Eat the Bannana!

RDF, fantastic post. Hits the nail on the head. As one who hates most of your posts, "you done good" in this one. Thanks. Was this your Kumbaya moment?
Not to kidnap this thread but, in all honesty, shouldn't we be saying the same thing about Esh?

I've lurked on the board for many, many years. RDF's outstanding post finally got me to contribute. It's easy to be a fan when your team is winning the big east and going to the final four. The real test for a fan comes when things get rough. Let's continue to show the team that the fans have their backs when things are not going well. The reason that the successs of the last four years means so much is because we suffered through some tough times with the team. Let's give Jessie a good send off against DePaul. Let's get some fans in the Garden for the BE tournament. Let's get some fans out to the NIT games - or just maybe the NCAA games, if they can pull off a miracle. Let's support this team as they work to lay the foundation for their future success.

Let's continue to show the team that the fans have their backs when things are not going well. This is pretty much what John Thompson Jr said at the Friday night 1984 event, citing the real fans in the Georgetown community for being the team's source of strength especially when they were faced with adversity.

Well said. I think you summed up the feelings of a lot of fans on this board and in the Georgetown community.
If Van was still around, that may have even inspired him to apologize to Esh and his family....

RDF - Thank you for a great post. I was also moved by Pops speech at the dinner Friday night and I feel your comments echo his sentiments.
Lic - thanks for the one lapse before you give up posting for lent!
