Why hasn't he been getting any 'burn'?
This is my first time seeing him...He's hawkin' it up on D...He's rebounding...He's scoring...
I'm almost frightened to see what Guibunda can do when HE gets some playing time...He might go for 32 pts and 17 boards...

He really does deserve more playing time, he can sure bring alot to the table. I love our guard situation right now. Cook, Wallace, Reed, Darrel, and Tyler can all contribute. And next year we add Sapp and Thorton!!
Can anyone beleive this season?!?!
Go Hoyas!! 7-3!!!

If our big men keep their steady development, we're gonna be pretty solid next season...

Tyler's really come up big in the minutes he's been getting. Solid defense, timely baskets, and just flat-out smart play all around. Hopefully the trend continues.
Has Cornelio had even a minute of playing time this season? Can (would) he be redshirted?

Guibunda had garbage-garbage-GARBAGE time I think twice this year. I'm not familiar with the rules for redshirt eligibility... Tyler is godly. With all these guards, I'm almost worried about everyone getting playing time! Hopefully that'll motivate Reed, Wallace and Crawford to step it up each night!

Guibunda is really a mystery to me at this point. I thought he was pretty highly regarded coming out of high school. Speaking of big men, how about Kilkenny-Diaws performance tonight. I thought he played good D and even got a basket or two. Hopefully he can be a reliable guy off the bench for us.
Go Hoyas!

We don't need him to be a beast...just be solid and play smart basketball when he gets in...

What a great problem to have. We have solid defense and playmaking in Wallace, dangerous offense and long range capabilities in Cook, and Crawford, a weapon off the bench. We have a veritable three headed monster on our hands.
I think we keep our starting 5 the same, but phase Crawford in. Its great to have faith in JTIII. I trust him to put the right 5 at the right time.

How about the fact that he started the second half with Tyler, Jeff, Amadou, Ashanti, and Wallace? Not our regular line-up, but a pretty successful one, nonetheless. JTIII's definitely done a very good job of getting people into the game in situations where they can really do well and help the team.

Speaking of the starting five, if I remember correctly, we did not start the 2nd half with the usual starting five. Very rare, but I like it.

It is great to see that so many people are contributing. It seems as if somebody else steps up big each game. Go Hoyas! Who can believe we are 7-3 in the best conference in America!

Guibunda can do when HE gets some playing time...He might go for 32 pts and 17 boards... Guibunda looked horrible in the three appearances he's had this season. Coach Thompson appears to be a very capable coach. I'd trust his judgement if I were you.

I agree completely with the assessment of "G". Looking totally out of place. Maybe he can mature a little and contribute a little off the bench like "A. FALL" in the years ahead

As a Patriot fan, I've come to defer to Belicheck in all coaching decisions. I'm getting that way with JT3. It sounds like Crawford was amazing tonight, understanding his role w/in the PrinceTown system. Maybe he just grasped the totality of his role now, and that's why JT3 gave him more time. My point is, JT3 has earned a lot of coaching capital in my opinion.

Crawford "gets it"!
I have only seen him play twice -- against BC last week, and Rutgers yesterday. I don't know where he was earlier in the season, or what he was doing wrong in practice or whatever, but that freshman comes in and plays Princeton Offense like he was born into it.
He shot 4-6, 1-2 from three, scored 11 points and grabbed 5 boards in 21 minutes. It also appeared to me that he was mostly playing the SF position, or the "third guard" position. (This team doesn't have clearly definded, traditional roles.)
Crawford was a difference maker off the bench v. Rutgers. He was far more effective than senior DJ Owens, who seems to be going through his annual, second-half of the season swoon.
I will add one more comment, and this is not just for Michigan Hoya. Many posters have said that since JT3 has been so successful, we should just trust his judgement and not question his decisions. Excuse me, but that sounds like Duke fans with Coach K, or KU fans with Williams (Do UNC fans now treat him the same way?). Those folks treat their coach like a god and whatever he says is dogma.
But we are Georgetown. I am as impressed, surprised and pleased with 3 as anyone. I believe he should be the leading candidate for COY -- national COY. But, I don't think that means we can't question some of his calls and decisions. Crawford is a prime example. When he wasn't getting any PT, we could only assume that his game wasn't up to snuff, practices weren't going so well, and 3 was keeping the rotation very limited to cut down on errors and keep his best guys on the court.
But after watching the BC performance, it was clear TC could play and deserved more burn. His lack of any PT whatsoever against the Hall after his impressive performance at BC was very surprising. Somehow, 3 came to the same conclusion and included Tyler again yesterday. I would bet that is going to continue for the rest of the season. It wasn't just a match up thing, TC really gets the Princeton. He was always in the right place, making back door cuts, passing well, being aggressive, grabbing boards -- offensive and defensive. Heck, he even had an assist in hand if Diaw hadn't blown the bunny.
I would say that as of right now, Crawford is our best guy off the bench. True, that assessment is based on only two games, but they are the only two times he had an opportunity. And it bodes well for next year. We'll have all five starters, Tyler, and the four freshmen -- and possibly another freshman big guy. Even is Reed doesn't get much PT -- that's still a lot of depth for our Hoyas. Compare this to the same time last year?!?!?!
WOW, what a difference and year makes... and JT3 deserves the credit.

What I don't understand is why Bowman didn't start the second half. Did he do something stupid in the first half that annoyed III? We had a marginal lead and Bowman is our best player, seemed like a questionable call. And I can't share in the love for AKD, I think Big Roy should have been in there. But hey, 7-3 speaks for itself.

What I don't understand is why Bowman didn't start the second half. Did he do something stupid in the first half that annoyed III? . I believe he was sitting late in the first half during much of the amazing Hoya run, and 3 continued to play the guys who finished the half so well. I do recall seeing a couple of "bad Brandon" plays -- jacking up threes instead of running the offense. That's OK. Bowman has been much better this year, and it is due to the discipline instilled by 3. If 3 needs to sit BB to get his attention, then he should do it. By the way, the improvement in Ashanti is quite remarkable as well. I thought JT3's comments in the W. POST were really telling: --------------- Cook had one of his best all-around efforts of the season. He made 7 of 12 shots from the floor and 7 of 8 from the line. He did a nice job directing the Georgetown offense, finishing with six assists and only one turnover. "In the past, Ashanti has gone through a whole, 'Am I a point guard, am I a two-guard?' This year, we told him to just play, man. Let's not worry about that," Thompson said. "This was a game where we had to put the ball in his hands and let him make a decision. For the most part, he did a pretty good job of controlling the flow of the game." ------------------

Crawford played great again. I said it before and I'll say it again much louder...he HAS to get Reed's minutes. The kid is totally outplaying him.
The only beef I have with JTIII is WHY IN THE WORLD is Reed in the game at the end when FT shooting is the key. He missed 2 more FTs in the final two minutes. We're lucky he hasn't cost us the last two games. Play him if you want, but we have much better FT shooters who should play in the last two minutes. At least do offense/defense with him.
I personally Reed has lost all confidence in his shooting ability from EVERYWHERE. I think Nova was the last time he hit anything further out than a lay-up.
Great win! Go Hoyas!

I agree with you that Tyler should get more of reeds minutes. But give reed some credit, although he did miss the free throws, he hustled and got the rebound. He probably shouldn't be in that situation, but he does deserve some minutes. I think he brings alot of energy of the bench. Just my opinion.
Go Hoyas!

It seems like crawford does so much with his few minutes(including offensive rebounds) but I also saw reed on three straight missed shots getting a hand on the o rebounds and i think we kept the ball twice. Reed is more of a big play guy while crawford is solid. I say go with crawford right now though.
