JT3 has really taken on an air of arrogance this season. First the insane 'blip' comment - even if you think that, why not try to motivate your team instead of placating it? - and now this.
You better "figure this out" soon, because the season is slipping away.
Don't get me wrong, I love JT3 and think he's a fantastic coach, but I think he needs to drop the nonchalant act, even if its only for the public. He should be totally Editeded off after these kinds of losses, not rationalizing them.

some context may make you feel a little better in regards to what you perceive as nonchalance, guru. here's the whole quote from the times
"We will figure this out," said Thompson, who put his head down on the postgame interview table in momentary anguish before slapping the table with both palms and rising to his feet. "We're in a bad place, but we will figure this out. That's what we do."

What is he supposed to say "WE ARE DONE--I can't coach and we can't play"?
I agree the "blip" comment was weak from him--but this doesn't bother me and in all honesty--I think he's as stunned as we are--which isn't good but then again this team isn't very good at this time either. Only way you get out of it is by working on things-can't "wish" for a win or shot to fall--have to do it.

Count me as someone who supports JTIII 100% in
a) Not throwing his 18-22 year old players under the bus in the national press. Seriously, who would want to play for a guy who did that? What, he's supposed to do that just to placate some clown fan who thinks more of his own pathetic emotional state than an 18 year old? Good times. Don't expect a person with any moral character to toss someone under the bus so a fanbase can vent.
Next.
b) Understanding that all you can do is work on something. When someone say you are done, you actually are done. III is doing the only thing that someone who wants to win CAN do. What do you want him to do? Mail in the season? Forfeit the rest of the way?
Sometimes I wonder if some people don't understand the obvious truth that a coach's motivation revolves around his players, not the fanbase. And if you care if they actually win at some point, you should support that?
The team is playing like crap. That's life. The fanbase is getting embarassing. That's our choice.

i support III but i also think he has to take some of the heat. this is his program, his philosophy, and the kids he recruited. saying 'this is a blip, not the norm' and 'we'll figure this out' is all fine and dandy, but he has to get this team back on track soon. that is his job, his responsibility.

Wash Post: Thompson experimented with his rotation frequently Wednesday, looking for that missing offensive spark in backups Jason Clark, Nikita Mescheriakov and Omar Wattad.
I still have faith in JT3 and the coaching staff as well (I'm sure that's reassuring for them to know!), but I'm puzzled as to why Henry "single-M" Sims is not getting more of an opportunity to contribute - I understand sometimes arguments can be made about matchups, but doesn't Henry cause some match-up issues for our opponents? Since the Cuse game, he has not played more than 10 minutes in a game:
Duke: 6 mins, 0-1 FG, 1 block WVa: 3 mins, 1-1 FG, 2 rebs, 1 TO SHU: DNP Cincy: 3 mins, 1-1 FG
Again small sample size (so I'm not trying to extrapolate anything specific) - but not sure why Sims has fallen back out of favor after 3 consecutive fairly productive games where he saw double digit minutes (and an injury to our starting PF in the most recent game).

Does anyone know why Julian is in the doghouse? I would have thought he would have been the first off the berrnch for Summers and then Henry and moved Greg over to a 4

Where is this teams ability to adapt? I support JTIII philosophy and system and the players he thinks he needs to recruit to make it work. What happens when the offense isn't clicking? How many times, even when the team is playing well as a team within the offensive game plan, are we going to play like we did against Uconn. Regardless of the reason, do our players have the ability or the mandate from the coach to move away from the system? I haven't seen it.
Down 10 with 3 minutes to go against Seton Hall and we still are passing the ball around looking for the best shot. Sometimes the best shot is the one that you make. Has there been too much focus on given offensive sets that the players have lost creativity? I really do not believe the players are selfish. We may perceive it as selfish given the number of ill-advised shots. Maybe the players are not comfortable in this system. Our offense worked with lesser talent ('06-07). Should we be surprised that better talent is finding it more difficult? Is the reason for this too much focus on what is supposed to be done as what can be done? Has individuality been stripped away for the sake of what is supposed to be done?
I am as frustrated as everyone else and feel for the coach, players and the fans.

To me, JT3 has earned a rebuilding year and I support him 100%. Though, what puzzles me is the complete inconsistency in player rotations. Sims I guess just does not play anymore for unknown reasons. Julian makes a cameo against SHU, scores 4 quick points including a nice post move against the small pirates and then does not see the floor again.
And Finally, as I have questioned JT3's thinking all year, Jesse Sapp plays 36 minutes against SHU and 18 against Cincy? I get the match-up arguement, but the numbers just do not lie, while CW scored for the Hoyas last night 1 assist to 3 TOs is simply not what you want out of your starting PG. Meanwhile, Sapp plays half the time and gets 2 assists and 1 TO and only takes 2 shots (so poor shooting is not an excuse). I am not sure if Sapp was in at the very end last night, but what I do know is Sapp played very little in the 2nd half and again the team was beat in the half by more than the 1st half.
It is so obvious we need a floor leader, to me, the choice is clear, but I guess JT3 is preparing CW for that role in the future. It is kind of unfair for Sapp though who has started on some pretty good teams for 3 years only to become a role player on this team.
I just would love to see a consistent rotation, and if nothing else, a strong 5 we play at the end of games. I get Summers was out this time, but let's see what he comes up with against MU.

JT3 is there to be the level-headed, composed leader of the lockerroom.
he can't be like AW SH!T WE'RE TOAST, nor have I have perceived any "psh, we got jobbed."
he's getting hammered for the first time, he's has faith in his strategy, and he's acknowledging he has a lot of work to do.
what else can he do?
