well its not like navy is some obscure crayola color like Burnt Siena or Fuschia or Chartruesse. Its probably the most common school color (or 2nd) in America. I seriously doubt that. I would agree that blue in general is, but more of a royal blue, which is typically the norm.

I know you are just throwing it out there because I asked. I am not trying to be arguementative. But I really feel that navy is a color, and not a nuanced version of a color that involved hair spliting. You say "navy" to someone and they know EXACTLY what it looks like, unlike when you say orange or red or green. Its like black- it just is what it is.

In my experience navy blue is an extremely common school color, more than any other perhaps except for red. I know more navy blue schools than royal blue schools by far. But I am going to try to excersize some restraint because this is getting silly.... I don't understand why you are saying "dark blue." THat is less specific, and thus less correct, than navy. Just stick with Navy. Are we arguing over what navy looks like and I don't know it?

Rice University may have our colors: www.riceowls.com/sports/mbball/. Look at the banner on the website.

I remember that Rice was pretty much the only school I could think of when I was trying to determine if we are the only school with blue and gray. They are also definitely blue and gray although their blue may be slighlty different-but that is only a nuance.

Nope- their blue is our blue- NAVY!!! The question is what is their secondary color. It appears to be white 90% of the time. But maybe they just ingored their real colors like we did? But 90% of their merchandise is navy and white. Some has gray, but then some has pink, and I am seeing a lot of yellow... rcstore.rice.edu/gifts.cfm?doc_id=5583

Yeah, but is our blue technically navy? I don't know, since we're being so technical I dont know that it is. It is supposed to be some kind of dark blue but you usually refer to GU's colors as blue and gray, not navy blue and gray. As long as it is some sort of dark blue I'm happy, and we're getting very technical here, haha.

It looks to me like gray and navy might have once been thier colors and may technically still be, but their sports teams all use navy and white. Our hoops team may ignore both school colors, but all our other teams use them correctly. It doesn't appear as though any rice teams sue blue and gray. Im pretty sure they use Blue and Gray on their road basketball uni's. At least some gray trim, but it is mostly blue and white.

Yeah, I meant that they at least use gray trim, but you're correct that Blue and White are most prevalent on their jerseys. However the same thing is true with our soccer teams. I think our soccer uni's (men's and women's) are completely navy blue and white.

My ESPN college hoops game has nothing but blue and white. On new Rice items for sale, I am seeing more yellow than gray. What you say about the soccer team sounds familiar now that you mention it, and its unfortunate that they do that. We are not Yale.
Some restraint I have shown.

Actually many Hoya teams use white (both soccers, volleyball, baseball, and others at various times.
As to specific colors, many colleges (as well as pro teams of all sports) license specific colors via Pantone (an interesting company that essentially owns the rights to all colors), so many schools could argue that they have completely unique colors, though the differences may often be indistiguishable to the naked eye.

That is unfortunate about the other teams. I have always thought the two best looking Hoya uniforms were the football team and men's lax.
Nobody has ever doubted that many schools can claim to have unique color combos, I just think that navy and gray, two universal colors, is a dfferent story than say Michigan claiming that their yellow is actually"maize" and thus unique.

I was under the impression that our official colors were Union Blue and Confederate Gray, if you wanna get right down to it.
