Didn't see this posted anywhere else, but GUHoyas.com is providing a video feed of tonight's game. Per the SSU press release: guhoyas.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/120808aaa.html"There will be no television for the game, but a live video feed of the game will be available on the Georgetown Athletics website, www.guhoyas.com. The game can be heard locally on AM 570, with Rich Chvotkin providing the call."

From what I can tell it looks like this will be free and it's great that the University would do that for its fans.
That said, I would love to see some sort of release from either the hoop club or the athletic department explaining the sorry state of our internet broadcasts so far this year. There has never been a better year to be a Hoya fan living inside the beltway (with all the MASN broadcasts). On the flip side this may be the worst year (in the internet era) to be a Hoya fan outside of DC. We've consistently been broadcast on AM stations that do not feature an internet stream. To put this in perspective, my high school broadcasts all of it's football and basketball games over the internet, so it's laughable that one of the top 25 teams in the nation can't do the same. For many alums, the smooth tones of Rich Chvotkin were their only way to follow the game, and it's a shame that they've been silenced so far this year.
If the goal of this is merely to get me to sign up for the Hoyas All Access thing I wish they would just come out and say so. $80/year is a little steep for me (when you consider a year's worth of NFL audio is half that), but I'd prefer to know if that is their goal rather than continuing to see "GU Radio: WTNT-570 (not online)" when I visit hoyasaxa.com on gamedays.

The stations haven't changed, just the radio station ownership. Due to either incompetence or willful neglect, our new Red Zebra overlords have not offered even a token net presence for poli talkers 570 & 1260. Only 'ESPN 980' seems to be a priority with that group.

I basically agree with nearly this entire post. While SNY replays are nice, and things will certainly shape up when we get to the conference schedule, the lack of internet radio for so many games is absurd. Would it really be all that difficult for Georgetown to get its own radio broadcast up and on the radio? Don't they HAVE to have the rights to do that for their own games in their home arena? I've enjoyed Rich for many seasons for the minor out of conference games. We're one of the premier programs in the country, it should not be impossible to get an audio broadcast of every single game live. Duke has every single game nationally televised...

I agree, but the bit about duke is not true. Every game is televised but not nationally. A number of games, including ACC games are on FSN or "RAY." Neither of which are national stations. If you are wondering what "RAY" is, i am too. the closest i can tell is that it is an internet video streaming web site. RAY is the only broadcasting of the FSU and wake games. That would be like if gtown's games against Depaul and Seton Hall were only on the inter net (i dont know if duke fans have to pay for RAY). At one time it was true that every duke game was on national tv but that is hardly the case any more. This is due somewhat to the decrease (small) in their popularity and their performance over the past few years. But i think it is also due to the ability of stations like CSN, FSN, and MASN who are able to pay for the broadcasting rights to more games and ESPN is ready and willing to license their graphics.

Is FSN not national TV? I was definitely under the impression that it was. And Georgetown at Cincy IS only on the internet. ESPN360.

FSN isnt available (on basic cable at least) in the DC area since it was bought by comcast and turned into CSN. I was under the impression that FSN operated the same way the CSN does--local affiliates providing in depth sports coverage for the local teams and only rarely having interesting national programing (CSN has PAC-10 games on in all markets and plays Caps games on the west cost). the cincy game i guess was just an ironic coincidence. i chose it randomly only because cincy and seton hall are at the same level as FSU in my opinion.

Huh. Learn something new everyday. Everywhere I'd ever lived it was available, so I just kinda assumed.

You have to click on the All-Access link, and then click the "Already Registered? Launch All-Access" link at the top
Agreed, Jack. It's pretty nice.

In sum, is the feed free or not? The Savannah State feed is free according to GUHoyas. I'm not sure whether it will be both video and Rich's audio, or just video. I believe for the American game you could have gotten Rich's audio via HoyaVision All Access for a mere $80/year. That of course also comes with all the GU lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, tennis, water polo and tiddlywinks you care to watch.* Given that the $80 doesn't even appear to be going to GU, but instead to CBS Sports, I haven't felt the need to reach for my wallet yet. If that is the direction the school is taking the program I'm fine with it, but it would be nice if they were more upfront about it. *Some of these sports may have been made up.

Free, but you have to be registered for Hoya All Access. They will try to trick you into paying about three times, but you don't have to - just keep going to "free events"

Since we're selling the broadcast rights, it'd be nice if the University retained the right to pull back the internet version if the buyer doesn't bother to use it. WGTB is even broadcasting over the internet these days (and is occasionally quite good), so they have an outlet to get the games out to the wider alumni base if they so choose. Evan, are you out there? Any insight as to what's going on?

where is the video feed link? I got it by clicking on the little TV icon on the calendar entry for this game in the middle of the GUHoyas main page. I had to download Silverlight, which will probably make the IT folks at my office go crazy, but it is working fine for now.

Ok, might as well make myself useful since this was NOT intuitive.
Step One: Follow the link at the top of this page.
Step Two: At the top of the page, next to the GUHoyas banner, it says "All-Access" in small letters. Click on the star next to that.
Step Three: You will now be on a page that suggests you will need to pay for this game. You won't. Click the link to "preview free content" above the video box.
Step Four: Click on live events, at the top of your new screen.
Step Five: Click on the "watch" button next to Georgetown vs. Savannah State.
Hope that helps anyone who's confused.
