CUA plays Div III basketball. They won the National D-III Championship in 2001, and was the only D-III school to reach the Sweet 16 five times in a row (1998-2002).
From cuacardinals.com: "Head Coach Steve Howes
Steve Howes has built an impressive résumé in his four years as head men's basketball coach at Catholic University. His teams have qualified for two NCAA tournaments, won two conference championships, posted three 20-win seasons and appeared in post-season play three times.
Howes' 74-38 record makes him the fifth-winningest coach in the program's 98-year history. He has the most victories after four seasons of any CUA basketball coach and is one of only four Cardinal coaches to lead his team to the NCAA playoffs. His winning percentage (.661) is the school's second-highest.
Howes last year led a team of nine freshmen and no seniors to 10 victories during its first season in the Landmark Conference. The highlight of the campaign was a late-season victory over NCAA tournament-bound Moravian College. Jason Banzhaf was named Landmark Rookie of the Year and second-team All-Conference. DIII News has selected the sophomore as a preseason honorable mention All-American and preseason Landmark Player of the Year. "
I watched CUA play several games and practices when I was in law school, and there is no way on Earth (other than Southpark bizzaro world) that Howes beats JTIII head to head in anything, much less the title of Best Area Coach. I call shenanagins. Those CUA kids are deluded.

Come on - you got to respect their coordinated effort. We got beat at our own game. I say we strike a deal with their student body - they root for us in D1 and we'll root for them in D3. Good fun - however - no brainer as to who is the best coach, and not just in this area!
