yesterday middlesex lost to st. mark's in a defensive battle. sounds like rod odom played real well-- those look like greg type numbers. don't get me wrong-- he is not a big like greg.
blurb on the game:
"Florida signee Erik Murphy scored 14 points as St. Mark's won 54-46. "Erik Murphy was impressive and every time he touched the ball on the left block he scored," Middlesex coach Jamie Gallagher said.
Junior Nate Lubick had 10.
Middlesex junior Rod Odom finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Memphis, Boston College, Providence, Stanford and Harvard head coach Tommy Amaker were on hand looking at Odom."

blurb on rod odom.
"continues to be a priority recruit for lots of big time colleges. Xavier became the most recent school to offer him a scholarship a couple of weeks ago joining Boston College, West Virginia, Seton Hall, Rutgers, and Holy Cross. The coaching staff from BC has been particularly attentive, being present at three different games this month. Georgia Tech head coach Paul Hewitt and assistant John O’Connell were both at Middlesex’ practice on Tuesday night and Virginia and Villanova were up last week to catch a game. Harvard, Stanford, Providence, and Memphis were all at the Middlesex/St. Mark’s game 10 days ago."

memphisroar.com/2009/03/under-the-radar-not-for-long-introducing-rod-odom/i like the witherspoon comparison. i think balla or RDF told me that before. i hear Memphis likes him alot but that he sounds like a GTOWN kid. personally, i offer this kid now and lock him up......however, i have never seen him play. but i trust what i hear. him and roscoe on the wings would be nice.

Yeah, even Memphis has to have few kids that are interested in going to school as well as ball.

Good to see he'll be runnin with the Gauchos. They always got a good team and they strap up on the defensive end. Love Kemba and Theodore.

I'd like all those type kids at every position except the 5. Give me a defensive force who can board and finish strong. Don't care if he can dribble from the high post. Will he dunk on your head? That's what I'm talkin about!

Odom had a tough end to his season as his team fell 90-44 against St. Mark's and the Hoyas own Nate Lubick. SM went on the win their class. Odom was just ok, he needed to play unbelievable to keep his team in the game, as they were outmatched, and he just didn't do it.
Nate played very well.
Georgia Tech was there watching.

Article on Scout today and Odom does not list Hoyas. Mentions BC, Stanford, Michigan, UNC, Florida, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Seton Hall, Harvard, Providence, Princeton and Columbia. Said he'll visit Stanford and perhaps Florida this summer.

Sounds like we never have really been in the running with him. Thats ok though, right? Aren't there a few other wing prospects in the '10 class?

Non story. you have to always consider the source. this article is by a BC author....they have always had a jesuit big brother/little brother complex with us and might have selective hearing when GTOWN is mentioned. Rod came to our Midnight Madness last year. we have been on him for a while. long before the rest of the country caught on. The kid is smart enough to go to Ivy league schools yet has special enough basketball talent to also explore some elite basketball programs. A school like GTOWN i know is very appealing to his family.

Graegle, quick question (and I'm not sure you've answered this before): Who would you take from Jones, Odom, and Kendrick?

Graegle, quick question (and I'm not sure you've answered this before): Who would you take from Jones, Odom, and Kendrick? They all play different positions. There will be four schollies for 2010, maybe even five but lets not get into that(LOL). Jones is now a PF/C, Kendrick is an SG in college, while Odom is a SF in college. I think the biggest need is Terrence Jones over anyone to be honest. Because when Monroe leaves, that just leaves the team with Sims, Vaugn, and Lubick at the 4/5 spots, with a reserve type player in Benimon. Hard to say out of all the kids who is better now, they are all young with great upside. So it is more a matter of need.

Well, it will be if we get any of them.
Or Roscoe, even though that ship has sailed.*
*Striving to mention Roscoe in every non-Roscoe player thread.
