My expectations for the season have gone up exponentially since seeing this kid play. 20 points today! Dayum.

The twenty points is nice, but 8 boards, 4 assists, and three steals and blocks?
Those are fanstasic all-around numbers.

Someone should check his birth certificate because he seems way too polished and poised to be a freshman. If he's made a rookie mistake so far, I haven't seen it. We could do some things with him. Wow.

He really does look like a senior out there. He's so in control, so confident, and so polished. He's almost automatic near the rim. The scary thing is that we haven't even seen all of his offensive weapons yet.
He's also a beast on defense. You don't see him getting beat very often, and he swats shots with authority.

Stig -- you were at the game today? Does Monroe look like a kid who was the top rated recruit in his class through much of his HS career?

Seems like Greg and Chris can step in for Roy and Jon pretty well. Is there anyone ready to take the Patrick Ewing role as BE 6th Man of the Year?? (Especially a front court guy!)

I never got to see Jeff as a freshmen, but I can't imagine that he looked better than Greg has in these first two game

I never got to see Jeff as a freshmen, but I can't imagine that he looked better than Greg has in these first two game Monroe's first games have been more impressive than Green's. Granted, we were a young team learning a new system and we had to play Temple (and their matchup zone). If Monroe can keep this up, he will be the recurring BE Rookie of the Week, just as Green was in his first season.

I never got to see Jeff as a freshmen, but I can't imagine that he looked better than Greg has in these first two game Jeff didn't have the type of talent around him that Greg does so I think that made it harder for him to have these type of games. I mean, game 1 the starters were Bowman, Ashanti, Jeff, Jon, and Roy. Just compare that to today's lineup where it is hard to make an argument who is the worst player of the starting 5 because they are all so good. That being said, Greg Monroe is light years ahead of Jeff as a freshman. Its only been two games, but I think we are looking at Junior Jeff. For those who haven't seen him play yet, he is that good. I reserved judgement after the first game but today when Greg caused a steal from a driving guard and beat our guards up the floor for a no look alley oop from Wright, I could reserve judgment no more. Its hard to explain because after 3 minutes of watching him you get used to seeing him move like he does, but if you step back and make yourself realize he is 6'11'' its amazing. He runs the floor as well as Dajuan, and is quick in the box, able to separate himself from defenders for a post, and can dribble drive like a small forward. You could go on for hours. I am really looking forward to see him post up against some legit big men. Folks, he is very very good. My expectations for the season have increased dramatically after these two games. We will have bad losses (probably), but after taking our lumps, we are going to be very good.

Yes, Monroe looks every bit a #1 recruit. And he's not for 1 second a guy who needs the ball to be effective. He can work and dominate in our system. Simply outstanding. I can't wait to see him match up with some of the BE competition. He's going to eat some of those guys alive.

He looks like a guy who's been a strong college player for 2-3 years. Greg's a great athlete and has tremendous individual skills, but the most impressive things are that he's so polished, so poised, so smart, and fits so well into the system. In other words, his best attributes are things you'd expect to come from experience. The fact that he already has them are testaments to his intelligence, work ethic, and coaching (both JTIII and previous). I remember last year with Roy, I'd always get a bit nervous when he went to the bench, and I'd feel a lot better when he came back in. It wasn't just his play, but the fact that he made the entire team play better. I already feel that way about Greg.

Greg is like Lamar Odom, but with a better body and an inch taller. Odom's the better ballhandler, but Greg's better inside, just as athletic and a better defender. But if Greg plays with the passion that Odom has lacked in his career, he'll no doubt be the all-pro Odom was SUPPOSED to be.

He's more polished than Bosh at the same stage. It's another good comparison, though

Ladies and gentlemen, let's calm ourselves. It's only been two games against not great opponents.

can someone who was at the game tell me how greg scored his fg's?
what impressed me most in the j'ville game was watching greg drive and dunk, score on an allet-oop, score on a drop step move and his most impressive move IMO the turnaround baseline jumper from 10 feet out.

ill take our starting 5 against anyone in the country. these early games should be for developing sims, vaughn, wattad, clark. as sick as monroe is, if he's in foul trouble we're in trouble down low.
