The names being bandied about for the Cabinet cetrainly scream change.
Caroline Kennedy? John Kerry?
President-elect Obama: Please leave these two in the People's Republic of Massachusetts.

I think John Kerry is being mentioned because John Kerry wants the Secretary of State job, not because John Kerry is going to get the Secretary of State job. It's probably going to Richardson.
Honestly, I don't care if Caroline Kennedy is ambassador to the UN. I think the UN is an ineffective agency, and I don't think that is going to change under an Obama administration.

Caroline Kennedy's qualification, as far as I can tell, would be her orphan status.

As long as RFK, Jr. isn't picked for anything, I'll be happy.

Elvado is absolutely right (though I wouldn't phrase it in such terms). What the F has Caroline Kennedy done to merit a high-level position? Please enlighten me. She is like a homeless man's Princess Di.
On Edit: I'd really like to know actually. I admit complete ignorance of Caroline Kennedy's resume or qualifications (I could look them up on wikipedia I guess, but nahh).

Usually the chief qualification for an ambassadorship is "giving a lot of money to the president's campaign".

I really want to see one of the Google people as Secretary of Energy because that Google 2030 Energy Plan is the closest intelligent thing anyone's produced to a comprehensive energy plan. I really hope that post doesn't end up as a political appointment like Rendell.

I don't know jack about her either. Elvado just made his point in an excessively crass way.

Sorry if I offended your rather delicate sensibilities. I could have metioned that she is descended from a rum-running appeaser and is the daughter of a coke-and amphetamine fueled satyrist, but left that out.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Your Republican party. And maybe I should "metion" that "satyrist" isn't a word. Sorry if I offended your rather delicate sensibilities. Pardon me "a coke and amphetamine fueled satyr".
Please deny it if it is inaccurate.

I believe Kennedy supported Obama from the begining and has been something important in his campaign (fundraising chair?)
Anycase basically any college educated person with people skills is qualified to be ambassador

So you'd put her on a par with say, Jeanne Kirkpatrick?
If this is change...

I will confirm that you're a complete EDITED. I've never seen such a bitter reaction to not getting your way. 65,000,000 people decided you're wrong, get over it.
Make your point without the name calling.

I think you guys don't know how ambassadorships work. Usually the chief qualification for an ambassadorship is "giving a lot of money to the president's campaign". I think that's OK for ambassadorships to foreign nations, Bando, but I'd hope for a little more with ambassador to the UN. If Obama really wants to work in concert with the UN and nations who we've allegedly alientated (yes, I'm still pretty cynical about that particular meme), I think he needs more than a political figurehead as the US representative there. When I think Henry Cabot Lodge, Pat Moynihan, Jeanne Kirkpatrick, George H. Bush, Madeline Albright, Richard Holbrooke, John Bolton, Bill Richardson.......the next name that comes to my mind is really not Caroline Kennedy. Tony Lake, yes. Caroline Kennedy, no. EDIT: PS - Satyrist is a word, actually.

Anycase basically any college educated person with people skills is qualified to be ambassador While this is true of most ambassadorships, I think it is fairly important for Obama to send someone of substance to the UN if he is serious about repairing the damage done by the previous administration. The UN has been one of the right's favorite punching bags and Bush ignored it and/or defied it at pretty much every turn. Having a real diplomat there would be a step in the right direction toward restoring our image. Caroline Kennedy does not strike me as a very inspired choice, and given her reticence to public attention seems unlikely to pursue the post anyway.

I'm all for the will of the people being done. Mr. Obama ran on change and he's giving me Kennedys and Kerry. I have faith that he will be a wonderful President, but these are not good opening steps in my opinion.
What could be more old Washington business as usual than a Kennedy?
Thanks for the personal attack though. Guess we're fresh out of Kumbaya.

While I'm fairly certain Elvado did not vote for our next President, I think you mistake his generally cynical worldview for an embittered reaction to a loss.
